Do players still get the entire pack of paint jobs with a purchase? If not then paint jobs just went up about 6 fold.

Even if the value for money went down (which it prolly did), in the past I had to buy the hole pack while I usually wanted one. Now I can buy just the skin I want.
If I ever will in the future, I haven't bought much after they gave away the black friday pack 3 years back.

Anyway, its ultimately value for vs actual costs. Take your pick.

Well what you're being asked to do now, is hand over your cash, for a fake currency. With that currency you can buy the paint kits or whatever. Or just keep it. Frontier don't mind... They have your cash you have funny money.

But.. At the end of the day... You earned your cash, it's your decision how you spend it or give it to.

I've stopped reeading after page 5, but as far as I can tell the gist of this is that OP has no idea what paintjobs were sold in packs and somehow tries to misconstruct massive increases in price when paintjobs cost pretty much the same. Is that about it? OP, do you have anything to add to this?

They are not 'pretty much the same'. Now one paint job can cost the same as what we used to buy for 6. Obviously math is above your grade., so probably best you leave the adults discuss this.

OP rode out on a different horse than he rode in on. The last one was beaten to jello after page 2.

Pricing is based on perceived value - not on cost.
Historically the two weren't entirely decoupled as they are when peddling virtual goods (and perceived value was often associated with exclusivity, whereas virtual goods are infinitely reproducible). But yes, that is certainly true, which is precisely why we need to remain critical and careful where we spend our money, otherwise there really is no countering the argument that they're selling snake oil to idiots. If we're not, then all manner of ludicrous and exploitative practices can become normalized. If you can make a sensible argument as to why rgb(255, 255, 255) is more valuable than rgb(184, 15, 40), which is what we will be paying for if the tactical ice paint-job comes in at a higher price, then you might win me over. :)

As an adult I like free things and have the self control not to feel compelled to buy optional spaceship paintjobs.

Stig the has nothing to do with free stuff.. I agree and always have with you in relation tot he free stuff. That does not negate, that if you buy arx, it is costing more for 'some' items.

Slight correction. You do not get 400 free per week. You can 'earn' 400 per week by playing in the style frontier force on you. Anything else and you do not get the arx.

An another question.. As a long time creator of flight sim liveries, I'm really left in awe at their paint prices. I can knock out a paint job in 320 minutes. Anyone could do it once they know the tools. Anyone buying paint jobs is basically being ridden like well worn donkey.

I have not bought any for a year, although I put money for courtesy , I have not spent any arx, I have the 1200arx of these last 3 weeks, I already have a free paint.
if you play a little every day it is easy to get it, I have nothing against arx, if microtransactions in general, but I am able to avoid them, but for me it is better than before system,I don't understand button complaints or things that are offered for free.

I very much agree with this:

Yeh I agree mostly with you, see also my reply to Stig... In relation to it being a cash for funny money thing. I too will play frontier at their own game and only use the free arx they give me. I'll keep my cash in my own bank :D

Anyone have a summary or something similar of what activities earn arx and at what rate? I was under the impression that simply 'playing' the game would earn you arx.

What's the question though? But yeah, being able to customize/create/import your own paintjob would be a nice feature, but i see obvious problems with that, and as far as I can tell price per paintob/customization is in line with other games.

Well, you also kinda have to make Elite + Horizons. If you only make paints but forgot the 'making a game' part you're kinda not doing the same. Also, and I hate to break it to you, but typically the cost of an item has little to do with how long it takes to make or how expensive the materials are. That goes for cosmetics in games, clothing, musical instruments, tickets to concerts and so on. If you don't want to be 'ridden like a well worn donkey' I warmly recommend starting a commune and exchanging three corns of cob for a hand-painted egg.

For what paintjobs would that be the case though? As has been pointed out multiple times already the "pack" price only applied to certain paintjobs. Some of them were only sold seperately at increased (as in about the same price as packs) prices originally.

Flight sim ones are usually free. In fact aircraft creators provide the base paint jobs to be used as a starting point. Paint jobs Elite are an easy cash cow for frontier. And even better now.
