Do players still get the entire pack of paint jobs with a purchase? If not then paint jobs just went up about 6 fold.

For what paintjobs would that be the case though? As has been pointed out multipel times already the "pack" price only applied to certain paintjobs. Some of them were only sold seperately at increased (as in about the same price as packs) prices originally.

Dont use facts man. Just pull numbers out your read and call the other side some random insults. Its 2019 baby!

Well, you also kinda have to make Elite + Horizons. If you only make paints but forgot the 'making a game' part you're kinda not doing the same. Also, and I hate to break it to you, but typically the cost of an item has little to do with how long it takes to make or how expensive the materials are. That goes for cosmetics in games, clothing, musical instruments, tickets to concerts and so on. If you don't want to be 'ridden like a well worn donkey' I warmly recommend starting a commune and exchanging three corns of cob for a hand-painted egg.

Really? Is that how it works. Well blow me down, the last 20 years of making gauges, add ons, liveries and code interfaces to flight sim, and making a tidy bank roll, I've been doing it all wrong. Send me your address, I really need to learn from you. </endsarcasm>

I mean there have always been individual paintjobs that were as expensive (or more) as paintjob packs.

Ah okies, yes true... But now, the actual costs are being hidden behind the funny money costs, so the true value per euro/pound/dollar is a haze..

Flight sim ones are usually free. In fact aircraft creators provide the base paint jobs to be used as a starting point. Paint jobs Elite are an easy cash cow for frontier. And even better now.
I probably should have written "comparable games". Compare Elite to other MMOs and the prices for in-game customization/microtransactions are about on par.

This is completely false, I made sure quite well ... why does nobody say that now ship kits are almost 2 euros / pounds cheaper?

You're wrong. here's a test for you... How much is one arx? if you buy more more arx, the items get cheaper (not a lot) but cheaper, therefore the costs in and of themselves are simply made up. The ship paint jobs are no more difficult now than then nor are they time consuming. Why do you think they actually went to all the trouble of creating this funny money thing, when even Microsoft themselves and xbox are moving away from funny money to real cash? Because they make more form the fools who are easily parted with their cash and pay no attention to the actual costs. meanwhile it's cash in the bank for frontier and funny money for the buyers.

Ok so I used google's cache to find prices from the other week before the patch hit for a good number of items (mostly ones I'm personally interested in), as I've recently come back into the game and wanted to make my ships more customized now they they are fitted.

I took the average price of ARX based from here to use in the tables above, as you'll likely end up buying a big pack and a smaller one.

So for the price for items I was only able to find them as GBP on google cache. PP = Paypal conversion shopping @ GBP but paying in USD and includes PayPal's fees... still cheaper overall to do it that way than paying directly with USD, especially for the 51000 (54000 with bonus) pack as its about $5 cheaper than USD direct.

As you can see, the packs marked with * don't exist in the store anymore so are now far more expensive to buy all the colors, but cheaper if you just wanted one or two of them as they are sold individually. The Tactical skins are cheaper now however, so not sure whats going on with that. Also some skins such as Tactical Ice and Military Black one are missing from the store currently, so those might be even more expensive as they were likely the most popular ones in their categories. Should be overall better for most people since they are individually priced now though

The Solar System bobble heads doubled in price as they are now only individually purchased but far more expensive per item.

Weapon and Engine colors are ~15% more expensive now as well.

For most other bobblehead / decals and such the prices should be the same as other items in the list, I just picked ones I was able to verify on both google cache and the store and they have the same pricing for most items.

Big thanks to CMDR DNB321 on Reddit for their informative research o7
So anyway, hope this clears up misinformation that I've seen out there and if I did miscalculate anything please let me know.

Hasn't arx been in the game for some time?

Wouldn't it be rather easy to establish a baseline for costs by using the smallest/most "expensive" arx pack to determine&compare costs?

See my post above yours
Yeah, I got ninja'd. Thanks for the table, that kind of clears things up and is in line with my impression of how prices were converted. The majority of stuff either stayed about the same or got cheaper, while paintjobs are now kind of tiered and some bobbleheads are more expensive.

I don't really see what the fuzz is about. Not that I'm happy with how arx are earned in-game, but since I'm not in a hurry to "buy" anything that's not an issue for me personally.
