CMDRs now playing for ARX

Without ARX I wouldn't play at all currently. I'm waiting for fleet carriers or anything else of interest to come to the game. Also I am not preemptively grinding money without knowing the actual cost of the carriers. Before ARX I would only login anymore to engineer a new ship that I got an idea for or to remod an existing ship to be more efficient. Since ARX I do ~3 hours shooting per week to get it over with. I bought ARX anyway when the Clipper kit came out. If something comes to the shop that I like, which happens rarely these days, I buy it. Capping the ARX every week will prolong the time until I have to refill my ARX with real money.
I'd reached the stage again, a few months b4 the FC update, were I was killing time. Been quadrupling my credit balance Painite Mining for a couple of weeks when arx was introduced. Curiousity told me that Mining the same 'run' for hours could yield me '0' arx.

Then someone mentioned in a post somewhere how many System Permits they'd got. That's now my goal, achieving as many Permits as I can. It'll keep me going until the end of the month....maybe longer.

I'v not bought a cosmetic for well over a year, so I'v no need to change how I play to rake in the 400/week max......I'll carry on doing my own thing

400 is a cap, not a target.

It's well-documented on here and elsewhere, that this is not the kind of game that rewards playing intensely against time for a single-minded goal. You have to stop to smell the flowers. By all means, have a goal in mind, but first and foremost, do activities you enjoy, for as long as you enjoy them.

If you're opening up the game because you're thinking "I better earn some ARX", you're gonna have a bad time.

Maybe this is a wrong perception, it is just based on the complains here in the forum about getting not enough ARX, where people feel that there efforts are not rewarded enough (with ARX).
It is about FD's claims that we would not have to change our way of playing to earn the free ARX but there are clearly at least some cases where the ARX is not awarded fairly. FD put the proviso that it would require interaction with the environment (to avoid AFKing/botting for ARX) but it would seem they have dropped the ball.

It is not about playing for ARX, it is about FD adhering to what they said they were going to do OR admit they mis-spoke and clarify on their original statement.

Personally, I don't care about the free ARX as far as myself is concerned - it is a nice bonus and nothing more than that for me.

Very true and as others pointed out, some people have already changed their way to play because of how ARX are build into the game. That ARX are not awarded fairly is probably on purpose, together with the 400 cap, to avoid exactly those metas of maximizing ARX yield. But still some people seem to do exactly this or are at least are very disappointed when they see what they earned.
Some would say, it's their own fault, but for me it seems, FDev is doing all they can do to bring as much people as possible into a "hunt-for-something-irrelevant". Since the beginning of the game, people tell other people, they should play the game in a way, that they like what they do, not for something to gain. And so much what FDev delivers in the same time is exactly that: play this and you get that.

Anyone who plays for Arx is being rather silly. They aren't worth much at all, and certainly aren't worth worrying about. But, people are people and some will no doubt do this anyway. It's a waste of time if you ask me.

i must play too much :ponly done exploring and took out a cpl of pirates and hit the limit of arx
Well, you probably got 50 for exploring and 350 for the pirates.

Yesterday, I did a bunch of trade missions, I got 15 arx for the effort, of those 9 were for "exploration", i.e. jumping between the systems for delivery, and 6 for "other" which I assume was the missions themselves.

Not complaining. If I want to grind for arx, sure it can be done, but then... I don't want to grind.

I grinded for the ranks and engineers in the primary, and bought most of the kits and decorations in that one, but in the alt-account I decided "no grind". Play for the sake of playing and having fun. It's just interesting that FDev rewards certain activities more than other. They'll might re-balance it eventually though.

I just made 232 ARX in an afternoon engineering a mining Cutter - might have made more if I hadn't hit the cap.

Don't see me doing that every day, though, or indeed ever again.

Oh well. I suppose I'll just have to get used to living without my full weekly twenty pence of free cosmetics. I'm sure I can do it if I try really hard.

agreed, grind is not for me either. 4yrs of play and still not Elite x3.

Same. Only 2 Elites on my primary account. Was working on getting the 3rd just before distant worlds 2, but didn't finish. Now the ship is sitting with truckload of exploration data to sell, which I am, 400 arx per week, which probably will take months to clear.

I haven't been grinding for ARX and I've hit the cap every week. I did combat last week, which filled it pretty easily, but this week I've played only a little and I'm over 300 just doing some engineering and a material run out at Dav's.

It's not terribly hard and I only notice if I've hit the cap when I log in. If you're playing around the free ARX, that's a personal choice.
