For those who Deliberately Did Not Sign the Open Letter/Petition - Why Not?

Booooring....
Still talking about the petition?
I signed and I gave my full name... because those people are talking for me and I agree with all the main points.
It will change nothing though, everyone knows it but sometimes it's ok to make some noise.

I didn't sign for a few reasons...the main one is this

Why would they choose ipetition? Why would the authors of this petition want personal and IP info? Why do they want you to give your precise Cmdr name?

When you look down the list of authors there are two well known or should I say notorious names that stand out...now why would they want that kind of info

I have a feeling nearly 3000 Cmdrs will find out at some point in the future...or maybe not, who doesn't love a conspiracy theory dons tinfoil hat

I agree with nearly all of the points raised in the OL and I have a lot of respect for a number of the authors which leads me to question why they would put their names and reputations (for want of a better word) to something this shady.

The dubious nature of the petition aside, I think putting pressure on FD to get their house in order is commendable. We have these forums as a direct channel for that very reason, among others.

How you go about exerting that pressure, how that is achieved is also important, perhaps this wasn't the right way to go about it.

Time will tell.

You can read all about real world here :

Not that it doesn't happen, but those are edge cases, not typical for this game and are not why Frontier keeps a tight lid on the communications. Putting that out there every time the subject comes up is misleading.

I don't remember seeing death threats in the open letter.
Me neither, but thats not what I said. The note implied they had been there, and were removed.

Dunno if the note is still there. There are some screenies of it in the thread here as well.

double edit: I can't believe I have to even say this, but sending frontier employees personal attacks and death threats is super uncool and will get you an immediate ban from this community. Make your criticism as pointed and as loud as you want, but attack the problems you have, not the people.
Not in the OP, in the highest upvoted reply it seems...

You know? I never considered signing the petition, I only watched Yamiks exploit it, but I had no idea how suspicious that whole business is. That consideration should come as a serious risk to the unwitting. I wouldn't trust anyone with that much information, not an individual (or two), especially not a business. I do hope nothing gets abused, or used for unscrupulous reasons. Note this in your books for future reference.

I agree with you completely in a way, solisb is an edge case though. Petitiongate was full of them, in fact it read like it was written by them and for them.

Rafe Zetters in the reddit thread complaining his ban for sending deaths threats was unfair and that it definitely wasn't him honest. He's also calling for people to sign up with him and go to trading standards, five years after he once bought a video game he didn't like.

That article also explains why the devs have backed away from the community and nailed crooked wood over all the windows. So I'll stop linking it when it stops being incredibly relevant.

Like I said: edge cases. Not only edge cases, but unsubstantiated edge cases. The bottom line is that if Frontier can't handle communicating with their customers, they're simply in the wrong business.

Check out whole article Jason, that's one of the example toxic replies.

As funny as it is to call sollisb "unsubstantiated", there are many reasons to keep a tight lid on communication about what's going on. Right now, people are clamoring for information about updates that are several months away yet, and there's no reason for them to do anything but restrict to FCs, until that's released and ironed out.

Look at any thread theorizing about anything - some people will take offhand comments about what a developer would like to do someday as all but a guarantee. Keeping communications tight is all but a necessity when you consider how far some are willing to stretch it.

From a marketing standpoint, it's also not a great plan to just repeat the same things over and over for a long period - people who were interested will just get numb to it. Better to focus hype before a big release, not months prior. Focused marketing is more effective - showing in 10 places at once rather than 10 places over the span of months will guarantee more visibility with the same resources, and a shorter timeline before release will keep that more relevant.

Because this petition does not cover my issues with frontier which is combat logging, there is no excuse or exceptions to this. They removed money off those who did the money gain at the station so why was this never used against those who have been reported and sent VALID proof of this person taking advantage at an exploit. Frontier never addressed combat logging as a result its now a plague on this game because their is no Consequence of committing it currently.

Huh, I've seen plenty of well-reasoned responses in this thread. I guess people will see what they want to see.

Also, the thread title clearly states "For those who didn't sign the petition". Which likely doesn't include you, so...Why are you here other than to stir the pot?
Oh. I didn't realize we had to be invited to each thread on an open forum.
