I'm not an FSS hater, ...
Nor am I. How could I hate a ?
The ADS was nothing. Just a placeholder as it has been said. The system map could aswell have been appearing as soon as entering the system without having to press the ADS button. Same thing. But fiilling up that placeholder with such a hilarious mechanic... In a major video game ?? A disgusting boil right on the face of the superb Stellar Forge !
Come oooon ! I prefer nothing instead of that crap !

Looking at your dismissive non-responses, I would say that reply was more gentle than it could have been.
The psycho-penguin, surprisingly, is a cool guy ! Yes, I swear ! ;)

There's constructive criticism, and then there's whatever this is, which is so far in the other direction it's on the other side of Sag*A.

Unless taking the ADS excluded use of the FSS, the fastest way to scan would involve using both. There would be one "best" way to do things, which makes it not much of a choice.

I would take both, but I would rarely ever use the FSS. I prefer enjoying the game over being the best at it, just ask the Engineers...

Hate to ruin the victory, but my opinion remains unchanged from the 3.3 beta! I was in favor of the FSS+ADS compromise/mixture back then too, as I felt the FSS as Frontier designed it was too limiting and narrow in gameplay choices. The lack of adequate info at the honk is it's largest drawback, and providing some semblance of the system map after honking is still the best solution to that in my opinion.

I'm not an FSS hater, I just feel it could use some rather easy and value added improving.

But you have that already in the FSS with the little spectrum graph, and scanning all but the largest systems takes in the order of seconds, not even minutes...

I notice they are using mockery to shoot down peoples complaints over there in those threads. Im not saying it doesnt invite it but i dont think they should. The speed that this "community" turns on people who dont gush positivity eh? Going after a youtuber who is supporting the game by his existance. Nevermind tho, this issue is different we dont need an open letter. Too many people stick their oar in as it is.

:)
But he isn't 'supporting' the game - his Patreons are supporting him, surely? Is that not the way of most of the 'influencers' - to maintain their 'channels' (and possibly themselves) by encouraging viewers to provide financial incentive to continue?

Otherwise, well phrased :)

If you show pictures of the game on youtube, if you talk about it even negatively you are advertising and spreading interest. I didnt say it was a charity :)

Incidentally, has anyone noticed that the last time the OP was spotted was 5 minutes after creating this thread, and hasn't contributed to it since :D

A cynical person might suggest that they did this just to watch the carnage. ;)

Okay, I'll play nice.
Which question do you want answered?
For both our sake's, please phrase it in such a way as to avoid us having another argument about semantics.

What is being ignored?
What makes you think this thing is actually being ignored, as opposed to being placed on a list of things to redress, just at a lower priority level than other matters, such as fixing bugs and completing current works-in-progress?

The FSS does not give you surface scan credits either, well not all of them. It gives more then an ADS scan but less then a DSS scan. To get the good credits, you still have to fly there to map the planet and to get the first mapped by tag which really should be considered the most important one as it takes more effort and gives more cash. The first discovered by tags should really be considered the secondary tag, the not so important one, the one with the least kudos.

These days if I see someone that has mapped a planet well over 100,000ls away, I take my hat off to them and say well done.

During the last day rush to get to Beagle Point from a quarter of the way across the galaxy in a 35Ly Vulture...

I still haven't turned in the data for it yet, if you want to beat me to it... ;)

For me that wouldn't work.

1. It would be logic fail. If the ADS honk has found the precise co-ordinates of each planet why do you have to find them all again in the FSS. It makes no logical sense.

2. It would destroy some of the ways I go exploring. Sometimes I only scan a gas giant, go to the system map select it and go and find whats there. If the system map is fully laid out, that will destroy it for me as tells me exactly whats there anyway.

1: You don't use the FSS to reveal the system layout (as you do now), you use it to more precisely discover what the words are specifically and to tag them for catalogging and credits.

2: I'm not sure I follow exactly, but I can respect having some reason to fly out to things in a (mostly) sci-fi spaceship flying game.

To me the FSS as it is now plays as a visually impaired person going on a hiking trail to see the mountains with a high powered telescope strapped on their back, having to stop and take it out every so often.

Part of exploration for me was the "wow, look at that" moment for more unique or otherwise interesting system layouts. I just don't get the same thing from the FSS. It doesn't have the same visceral appeal of discovery, turning that aspect of discovery into more of a tedious chore.
