The Fed. Corvette we lost...

Those are quite useful for dual feedback rails ;)

That puts the finger on the problem.
Many players are not even aware of the numerous hard point options in the game.
I too had to learn this from some good youtube vids and forum suggestions.
When you think a hard point is useless on a ship, you can bet you are missing something.

Well yeah that's a given. But just assume equal abilities.
It's not like I'm seriously discussing a buff to the Corvette though. I should have just stopped at the funny gif

You know what assume does to "u" and "me", right?

But for the sake of argument - identically skilled pilots - the outcome would be both ships with exhausted ammo supplies, shield batteries, circling each other endlessly in an attempt to ram each other - a stalemate.

I think that it would be cool for them to change the small hardpoints to Mediums, or buff the speed a little bit. But it is already a very capable combat vessel outside of PVP

I'll just reiterate my views on the Corvette that I've given before. The biggest issue is that FD doesn't seem to know quite where they want to put it in terms of performance.

It's got very competitive performance relative to the Anaconda. In trading and delivery work, the Anaconda has the extra jump range while the Corvette has the extra cargo capacity. In terms of weapons, the Corvette has the convergence and twin C4 hardpoints while the Anaconda has a better C3 weapon selection and higher potential DPS. In terms of defences, the Anaconda has the stronger hull while the Corvette benefits from the stronger shields. In almost every activity, they trade blows quite effectively.

This would be balanced very nicely, if not for a notable downside to the Corvette - difficulty of acquisition. The Corvette requires both military rank and an extra 40M credits to buy, while costing even more to outfit due to the more expensive bulkheads and larger optional internals. In this regard, a simply ~50 Million credit cost reduction would resolve this issue.

In terms of corvette vs cutter, they shouldn't be compared. They require the same military rank, but the Cutter is currently in a class of its own in terms of both internals and cost. Rather than making the Corvette into an equal to the Cutter, we should be asking for FD to make a Federal Frigate to provide the Federation's answer to the Cutter. Trying to make the Corvette equal to the Cutter is like trying to make the Cobra compete with the AspX.

I am 100% on board with a federal frigate. But I dont think the cutter is all that great. After recently aquiring one, i think cutter is actually a little over-hyped

Edit: I also don’t think 50 mil either way matters by the time you get to the large ships, especially in the current state of the game

This discussion has been hashed out before, shame it doesn't lead anywhere.

You want this, he wants that and someone else says no to both because he wants this. A classic circle ***k.

The easiest result will occur, NOTHING. Moving on...

So, back to open letters & meemees then?

I dare you to find a use for the single hardpoint on the Hauler :D

Well, they did add a number of very nice and fun medium ships in the last year, it's possible that we may see another large or two next time in 2020?

This is consistent with how they monetize the game, add new ships, sell new paintjobs.

The Vette is not supposed to run down other ships, its not built to be an interceptor, its an area denial vessel designed to pump out a fat ton of firepower whilst being covered by smaller frigates and fighters.

One thing that keeps big ships out of PvP seems to be the lack of tactics applied with them, they have to have a role in the fight or you might aswell have another FDL.

This is nice and all, but it's really not an answer to an imperial megaship with 10K shields, 500 combat speed, very comprable firepower, and ramming damage that is absolutely devastating. Except for the two wing mediums, it has better hard point convergence too.

I'm sure someone will bring up the maneuverability... Look, the cutter is good enough if flown well FA OFF. I'm assuming both pilots have thumbs, constant proper pip management, FA-OFF skill, and some fixed weapons here.

A good cutter pilot can make it dance in PvP, sure it's an elephant ballet, but it's not getting outmaneuvered, and it makes lethal use of superior range control and ramming.

True, but what els can we do now?
There is nothing going on in the game, BUGS are everywhere (not Thargoids, game bugs) and FD's rejecting community's little protest against all that...
When we have last Interstellar Initiative? More then a month ago?

So all I have left to do, is grind materials for more engineering and talking about things that will never be...
FD's not even consider to re-balance ships that REALLY need it.
Asp Scout, Type-7...

Exploration is pretty bug free.
I jumped from the bubble to Colonia the last 3 days and the bugs didn't affect me.
Jumped roughly 200 neutrons, no problem.
I even got my ARX capped out again.
On the other hand, that was travelling, not real exploration...

* drinks *

Agree. Exploration is less effected by the bugs... A came from my journey recently, and start to see problems with the game. When I was in the deep black, things was ok...
But most of the people are in the bauble doing day to day staff or as some of my friends, cant log in to the game.
Some of them can't since September update.
Support answer to one of them was: "We know there is an issue but don't know how to fix it yet, sorry bro, stay tuned, buy arx"

Well, things are more or less working for me at the moment. The most annoying bug right now for me is having to relog after a ship switch to properly see the module priorities. But I'm well aware that I'm basically lucky with that.

Right now I'm more worried about what the upcoming patch 3 will break than looking forward to what it will fix.

And damn right, the next interstellar initiative or at least CG is sorely missed.

Well it kinda is.. The Cutter has a ropey disto and without someone to back them up, have no option but to run away most of the time, in fact as a general rule Cutter pilots are some of the worst out there.
Sure a pilot whos spent time in anything can make anythng dance, but a vette can contend properly with medium vessels, in a 1v1, a Cutter? That cannot. Unless of course the pilot sticks it in reverse and does nothing else. Not the risk involved to the Cutter I will add, we all know that they have too many HP, the thing is, if they didnt have these basically unlimited HPs they would be getting run off by Vultures due to the difference in turning circle.

Personally I'd like to see how it reshuffled the pack say with limits to SCB modules or some such thing, coz I bet that if all ships were limited when it comes to banks/GSRP's that the big ones would be worse than the small ones in a lot of engagements.

It would be nice if SCBs were limited to 1 per ship similar to fuel scoops and shield generators
