best ship for killing NPC only

should i buy it though? or maybe is not that quick to turn?

The FAS does turn better than the Krait MK II. Lateral thrusters also are a bit better. You pay the price on the survivability side and the number of internals, though.

I find that my Krait MK II can just soldier on through stuff where my FAS would already have had to retreat due to weapon malfunction or even be destroyed long before.

Chieftain > FAS. Fight me.
I would dare to even say:

Chieftain/Challenger > FAS

They both are very good ships, very similar. The difference is mostly weapon preference.

They both also turn much better than the Krait MK II. But they also share the drift with the Krait MK II. And as long as the OP doesn't describe his problems better, I would suspect that the Kraits drifty flight behavior might be a significant factor for his problems, which the Chieftain and Challenger also share.

All in all, I rate these ships to be awesome in the hands of a good pilot, but a hard uphill fight for a beginner.

Edit:
Also note that the Chieftain with it's rather unique hardpoint setup only really shines once you learned how to configure a ship. Many of the "good enough" setup you can do on other ships just don't really work there. So to really make the ship shine, you also need to have knowledge and experience in setting up ships and is not beginner friendly.

same as federal assault ship or what?

No. It's actually the opposite sides of the spectrum. The Mamba is fast but has mediocre turn rates. The FAS has excellent turn rates, while sacrificing other aspects.

The Mamba wants you to boom and zoom, while the FAS is more of an in-your-face fighter.

The Vulture! It's extremely maneuverable and great fun. It's an excellent "teacher" as well. If will teach you how to fly, and it will save your behind until you learn. Fit two large frag cannons and go hunt down some pirates. It's the best fun I've had in ED, and if you are patient enough, once you learn how to fly it, there's not many ships that can outmaneuver it.

If you want a tank that you can park in the middle of a Haz Res without a scratch, go core mining and save up for a Conda. It doesn't fly well, but it's a fortress.

so thats my problem!

#campaign for two medium hard-points on dolphin to commence in 5....4.....

^^ of course i joke, small seismic charges will do!

As long as you're fighting rocks, they will. Granted, I can't fathom why we can't stick a seismic charge on a ship that is annoying us and split it like a 400,000 ton asteroid. Something in the maths there just doesn't quite work out for me.

The best teacher still is the Imperial Eagle. Or the normal Eagle, if you are not good in basking. But it's very much a teacher these days. Due to defense inflation over the last years, its firepower is just not up to the job of killing big ships at a reasonable rate any more. (At least in the hands of a normal pilot. I am sure that somebody like Morbad can quickly supply a video of an Eagle wrecking plenty of havoc. )

Yet I dare to say: somebody who learned to fight in an Eagle does know his defensive flying. Which will benefit him also in bigger ships. Most bigger ships are more forgiving there, the Vulture included, which allow people to be successful without caring as much for their defensive flying abilities.
[You can learn it all in other ships, too. But the Eagle line forces you to learn it. Mind you, the lessons will most likely be paid with a few rebuys. ]

Federal Gunship. All Multi cannons. Brrrrrppppppp the NPCs to death. Or Ram them during the inevitable jousting fight...

you know that i was asking this question serious.... joke aside please....

im pretty sure the "FGS all multicannons Brrrrrrpppppp" is fairly on point for a winning NPC killer. the "inevitable jousting fight" is also 100% accurate
