I can confirm I only ever fly one ship at a time.

Have one of every (i think) ship... Really use about 10, each otfitted for specific task. Lemme tell ya, engenering em all was not fun.
Curently halfway to Colonia (via scenic raute, about 10k off direct course) in Krait phantom.

I have a Clipper ('Valiant') and a Python ('Vulcan'), but I very, very seldom leave my Cutter ('Enterprise').

I took it out to Colonia in January, and am slowly wandering my way back now - a Cutter probably isn't the optimal ship for such things, but I like to travel in STYLE.

Realistically, each ship I own has a specific purpose. Re-fitting for a new thing takes time, so frontloading that work by building around the task has worked out better for me. Working to get each ship engineered individually, so I never have to move parts around.
