A quick scan of the responses suggests I'm in the minority here, but I don't find the arx earned for "just" exploration to be particularly stingy. One of my accounts is a dedicated exploration account. I don't spend much time playing, but when I do that account is 100% deep space exploration. The number of arx I earn doing FSS and DSS scans, while nowhere near the weekly cap, seems sufficient for the effort I put in. If I had the free time to play the game as much as I was, say, two years ago then I reckon I'd hit the cap most weeks just doing what I do. And that's without selling any data.
Compared with my other account, where a similar amount of time spent core mining and selling the ores earned about 1/20th of the arx that the exploration earned, exploration seems fine to me. I do understand the argument about the
sale of data only amounting to a single cap even after months in the black, but the
accural of arx through normal exploration activities seems OK to me.
Obviously mileages vary. And that's the real problem. My gut feeling, not based on this particular thread but in general, is that what players are really asking for when you get to the core of the argument is to be able to reach the weekly cap by doing whatever they most enjoy doing for the amount of time they're able to dedicate to doing it. Which makes it wholly subjective and impossible for FD to please everyone. Someone is always going to fall short of an arbitrary threshold unless FD give arx away just by having the game installed.
What is "decent" amount of arx....its quite subjective and relative. Then again so is indecent.
Exactly.
