Are Cytoscramblers good now?

It’s hard to find good use for a size 1 hard point so I think cytos would be a valid option if you have size 1 slots to fill and want more shield damage. Another use for that slot could be rails with super penn or feedback, or putting force shell on something.
but it’s really about the very limited damage of a size 1 point. It’s really for something special, not damage, so cyto could be good there.

I could see an iEagle rocking two of these, with a rail on top. Maybe a DBS too.
My DBS rocks two phasing cytoscramblers, a grom bomb, and depending on my mood and who I intend to be annoying today, a ventbeam or an enzyme rack. With the ventbeam you can stay in silent running pretty much all day, especially if you toggle it off when you're actually firing.

I'll agree on the Beams. but Efficient Oversized PA's are better than MC's.
I use beams on pretty much all my ships. My krait mkii has three large efficient vented beams and two shock cannons (I actually alternate between shock and pack hounds). I've never gotten above 50% heat. In fact, my ship mainly just cools down the moment I start firing. Most days I don't even have to use the shock cannons.

Beams are op :)

Edit: I do however prefer MC's to PA's. Mainly because I haven't tried an all PA Python yet ;)

Odd thought: would Inertial Impact on Cytos make it do damage to hulls?
It's not the resistances or damage type that's the issue, it's the AP value. They have an AP of 1 so even against a hauler they're doing 1/20th of their stated DPS against hull. Against a 'vette they're doing 1/70th.

Now, pairing them with corrosive on the other hand, which adds +20 to the AP of all weapons that strike the hull...

I want corrosive beams :(

The huge beam corvettes I killed earlier today probably thought the same but I couldnt hear it over the distributor crying.

The damage drop off on efficient beams is horrible, long range pulses are much better.
A pair of huge efficient beams on a corvette is FAR superior to a pair of huge long range pulse for fighting other vettes, it's not even close. It's not until 2km out that efficient fall off starts to render its dps/dpe combination worse than a long range pulse, the efficient beam has TWICE the dps, and 50% better dpe.

Once you go PA... you'll give everything else away.

Does phasing stack, or (if I get 2 of them), do I need different secondary effects?
Phasing Sequence is just a kind of damage transformation, turning some 9% of thermic damage against shields to raw damage vs. hull and as such has no lasting effect.
Short answers: Yes to the first, and no to the second question.

A long range Cytoscrambler with emissive special effect might help to shed some light on silent runners. The jitter helps here.

Efficient or Overcharged Cytos have always been ludicrous. I used a pair of Overcharged Cytos on my Chieftain and shields evaporated. My DBS with twin Efficient Cytos and twin SRB PAs knocked down Elite Corvette NPCs like dominos. You get the DPS of a Huge Beam for far less power and heat. I always used Double Braced as Small hardpoints are easy to damage and malfunctioning weapons are no good.

Assuming you are a decent combat pilot and not in a Large ship, Cytos are easily the best anti-shield weapon in the game. All the people who denounce Cytos are dependent on autoaim gimbals. It's not that they suck at flying, they just can't aim, you see.

Cytos will be my c1 weapons for my DBS. It's rocking short range blaster imperial hammers at the moment in the c2 slots. Might farm the vouchers this week actually, in preparation!

Cytos are the mad scientists favourite weapon in ED, they reward experimentation.

Along with Soylent White Kumo Burgers, Harma Silver Sea Rum and The Lords R5 bonus The King™ is truly the king.
