I've played the game for almost a year now, l've watched hundreds of videos, read thousands of forum pages, posted dozens of questions, but I have never RTFM!
I wonder how many of those hours could have been spent playing the game, had you RTFM before you clicked "Play" that first time.

I can understand how something like that might sting, but it is just a game, right? There is a learning curve just like any other game. And it's not like Frontier hides the rebuy system - the rebuy cost is right there in your right-hand panel. To throw a fit over an oversight regarding one of the mechanics in a very complex but rewarding game is not the right course of action, as far as I am concerned. Shrug off your loss, learn from it, expect more setbacks in your ED career, and GET BACK INTO YOUR COCKPIT! The game is too good to abandon it because of a minor hiccup in your career.
I have a reasonable command of the English language. I do however appear, to have a lesser understanding of the sudden explosion of anachronisms. OTOH had to be googled. I'm guessing it is a way for the "youth" to get back at the old. But diversely, in different circumstances, I'd variously state it as... lazy bullshot.
Net speak. I find it funny. The young are smarter, faster, in technology yes, in what's important, not so much.

We should encourage and demand a level of verbosity that slows people just enough to let them think about what they are typing. The shortcuts are confusing and allows them a way to much time to brain burp like never before. If you think I'm wrong, say the words out loud as typed. And if you think I'm dumb for not getting erroneous anachronisms then GAEUSF
The rebuy of your ship can be found while in outfitting at the bottom of the screen and on the right hand side panel as well. IIRC, the right hand panel also displays your current credit balance.
There is an insurance contact. You talk to them after exploding.

For some reason this thread reminded somewhat nostalgically about the time I was so green that I hit the pause button mid flight and went off to fix a cup of hot chocolate. Just before I got up from my office chair I remember thinking with awed wonder: "how neat is that, even the pause screen is animated to look like my ship is still just flying along?!?"
About ten minutes later came back with my mug to my very first rebuy screen.

Trust me when I say that everyone who has played this game has gone through what you have experienced one way or another. I remember when the early days in this game annoyed me so bad haha. The only thing you lose in this game however is time. Just have patience with it. For a start its highly recommend that you always have credits to re buy a ship before you set out on any endeavour. A fuel scoop is also important, unless you want to meet the fuel rats haha.
Condolences, but if you can find the forum to rant, you can find it to learn about ship insurance. I can't believe you went through outfitting anything worthwhile without knowing you'd have to start over if you cannot afford the rebuy. So you never lost a ship, ever?
