The ADS

The thing is, the ADS wasn't "seasoned with urea", then again, you were the one who said it was selfish if the plate was ok. Also, making forum posts are nothing compared to a public outcry in a restaurant especially considering your precese here is completely optional from playing the game, i.e., you are hearing the complain because you wish so.

You're right, the ADS wasn't "seasoned with urea" it was urea.

If you didn't see that coming, you must be an R-Kelly fan.

Then you're not talking much sense. I did go out of my way to find a way to use the FSS I found fun, I had a lot invested in finding a way to consider the FSS fun. But to me it's grindy mindnumbing and repetitive. I can't change what I consider fun. Neither can you. You just happen to find the FSS fun, I don't. Nothing to do about that. Lucky for you, sucks to be me. Players have different inherent preferences. You just have to accept it.

Just because you found a fun way, that doesn't mean anyone can.

I've never hung around in the corona. I did the scooping with full attention to the trajectory, moved out of the way, and only then checked the system map.
Most of the stuff I do on elite anymore feels like work as opposed to playing a game after work. It's like I get home from work and am logging into a second job. Everything feels like a chore instead of recreation after a hard day.

Sounds like you may need to find something else to pass your idle time - perhaps just for a while. I get this sensation as well from time to time. I refer to it as Elite: Ennui and it is easily remedied by picking one of the 30-some other titles in my Steam Library.

Which confirms my earlier summary of the mean spiritedness of many in the anti-ADS crowd. Confirmed straight from the horses mouth in this case.

While it's true this kind of mouth-foaming vicious opposition to something that wouldn't even affect them comes mostly from spite, they really aren't that many. 2 or 3 regulars, the rest either don't care or are much more reasonable. The ones who do are moved by mostly by spite just keep regurgitating the same pseudo-arguments disproven 3 threads ago, while drive-by throwing an insult here and there as they're no longer able to control the rage and frustration of not getting what they really want since the beginning: provoke us into getting down to their level and have the thread closed by moderation.

Unfortunately the spite and nastyness is evident on both sides. I got dragged down, after being very reasonable at the beginning. Seems to happen in these threads, I come with good intentions, bit I get dragged down. I think I will avoid these threads from now on, as they just become a toxic cesspool.

Yeah, I think it’s kind of funny that the pro-ADS crowd seems to think they’re little angels, when this thread is testament to the opposite.

There’s ultimately very little point to these threads anyway. Very very very few people want the ADS back, and FDev have already refused them directly. In a game that has sold 3 million copies, only a truly massive crowd could convince them to add it back in as an option. That crowd simply doesn’t exist, and frankly never will.

Adam stated that there would be not changes "at this time" clearly implying that changes were possible at a later date. 6 months down the line after reading back over old posts i am convinced enough people quit exploration for it to show up on fdevs numbers. I think its definately worth pressing this issue as we come up to christmas. If you counted up every poster who has said the FSS is bad... there are loads of us.

Even if it's a few hundred, I doubt that is anywhere near enough I'm afraid.

As it is, there are not that many from what I can tell, maybe 50-60.

As to exploring we know it hasn't dived down to an all time low, it's stayed pretty static which is not bad considering that the player population generally drops between big updates and the last few updates didn't add anything significant for more seasoned players to bring them back.

Hopefully ice planets and a better rock scatter system will bring more players back to the game, as well as fleet carriers and anything else FDev do.

Well i appreciate your opinion but i think we ought to wait for the official figures. We might all be surprised.

On a more srious note, you think we are getting ice planets in 2020 then? I reckon there is a fair chance they dont turn up.

annoy, embarrass and belittle.

No need to over do things eh? ;)

Sorry, I tried to stay away but comments like this are just too hard to resist.

Umm who said there will be official figures - well except you of course.

And also, what happens if this multitude of players who you say think the FSS is bad, also say the old ADS was bad and want something entirely different. You will still have to complain in every thread then won't you.

They have been regulalry mentioned thruout all the ADS threads. Im not making any demands tho im happy to wait for fdev.

Sometihng i did notice. Quite a few of the people defending the FSS in the old threads stopped playing a few months later.

But again, if you're flying out to check out some WW, ELW or WW, there are X number of other racers passing you by - at least if they're serious about getting "there" first.

I thought it was about exploration and not racing. In what situation would others "race" beside you?
I guess most of the systems I detail scanned or just scanned never got visited by anybody else or just months if not years later. Exploration is usually not a race and there are incredibly many systems in this game.
I did rush back after I found my first ELW (very long ago). Silly me, thinking that somebody might hand in the data first.

Exploration is not a competition, or at least a very, very slow one - measured in years, decades …

What has been 'regularly mentioned', who mentioned it, was it from FD or was it from you? I checked this thread, no official response from FDev, so it can't be them saying it. Yep, just checked again, no Dev Posts in this thread, so who is this mythical 'they' you are quoting?

We both may be surprised. But I doubt there are any official figures on who doesn't and who does like it.

It's a distinct possibility. We are getting fleet carriers in December, so we may get the ice planets and updated rock scatter system.

No harm in a bit of exaggeration, it seems pretty rampant in this thread. ;)

I dont want to say or ill be accused of things. Go back and look in the other ADS threads people are constantly talking about "metrics"
You are talking about the exploration figures in EDSM. And that has not gone down in any significant manner and there can be other reasons why it hasn't gone up, like players spending more time in systems then before. New explorers visiting already found systems, going to the usual tourist spots, but it's still exploring. There are many reasons why, that's is why those figures are not an accurate benchmark on whether the FSS has been a success or not.

The exploration part of the forum though seems to be thriving at the moment.
