Elite not very dangerous ?

And if they don't stop you shot them until they do stop, or explode. Most often people simply vanish.

It does feel a bit disappointing when someone "combat logs" on me in the middle of my demands, often, I've been talking to a "ghost ship" for the last ten seconds or so which makes me feel even more silly.

I just block combat loggers though - and honestly, I'd say I get about 15% combat loggers these days.

"Forced to do your bidding!" LOL! Thats the game part.

I agree ! but as someone else above pointed out... Not every interdiction means a fair encounter. If I knew all interdictions meants me handing over a 'certain quantity' or face kaboom, I'd play it. But that's just the way most fools in Open play.

Like I said above, I'd bet my pay cheque that if open became a non-menu log type mode, it'd become a waste-space. With no-one playing it. And I'm guessing you know this too.

I'd love to give it a go frankly. Its why I firmly believe features like Powerplay would benefit from such amended rules since I've had a great deal of fun playing cat and mouse with people. Since that would be self contained then outside can remain the crazy mess it is.

But if everyone decides to block each other, then it makes things pointless as its a chain reaction.

Well, not everyone will block each other though - just the people who prefer to play differently.

Combat loggers didn't want to engage in combat with me - ok, they can't now, because I blocked them - I also don't want secret stealth ships in my game world, so I will never see them again.

I don't see the problem.

Your use of "everyone" might be slightly exaggerated. I spank cheats and station griefers with block only, end result no station shenanigans in my game.

Yet open has never looked so busy. Plenty more fish in the sea, ditch the ones you don't like.

Try blocking the cloggers if you don't like the effect you can unbock them no hassle.

This is fine until you have features like Powerplay where people block and log habitually.

No. Its boring. Without Solo the game wouldnt exist. It´s better for the PewPew-Crew to live with it.
Isn't this entire thread about the PewPew-Crew? I'm pretty sure it isn't the peaceful space truckers and explorers who are complaining that NPCs are too easy.

Well as a simple quazi-metric... Ask yourself this.. How many successful encounters do you have in a say a weeks play? because if you get your wish I think you could halve that number. Would you be bothered playing at all?

And is why it should be that with a hostile ship in that instance you can't log out, or if you do you have a penalty. Otherwise, whats the point of the pirate interdicting anyone?
Good question, what is the point of the pirate interdicting another player? It's not lucrative, it's not guaranteed to provide "fun" for both parties.

Unless it's about making another player dance to the tune of the interdictor?

Well, if the game works when I return to my main PC I'll try it. But an awful lot of people vanish around Harma all the time...

I'd rather have half the amount that had better interactions really.

Stop with the victim mentality- I'm not asking the trader to pull down his trousers and suck this thumb. I want his VOs or painite and then to move on.

Not lucrative?

I guess if you compare it to Void opal mining it's not as efficient at making credits - but I pirate void opal miners, even if I only manage to snag a few void opals, thats a few million right there - for me, that's lucrative!

It's also a hell of a lot more fun for me to use a wake scanner to follow potential marks across the bubble and figure out their routes and lie in wait, than to look for the NPC courier service ships (though those are a welcome addition to the game) the NPC's just aren't as much fun.

I've had quite a few players say they enjoyed the chase too - and others ask for advice and tips, several have become in game friends after a while.

That might be what you want - however the PKers did the possibility of effective piracy tools a great disservice back in the day - as "real pirates" were found to be in very short supply compared to those who just like to watch player ships go "boom".

Any features that facilitate "real" piracy will be used by those who just want explosions - which is probably why PvP piracy has suffered.

Sounds like you're doing it in a manner that can be "fun" for the target - even without features that would strong-arm them to play along.
