Elite not very dangerous ?

The problem is there is no base 'rule' to any interaction- even when someone drops down they can pull the plug if they lose that portion of the fight.

So what? If they decide to pull the plug, they don't want to interact with you. What you are asking for in that they be forced to interact with you.

Play it out logically.

If you get what you want and FDEV remove block, stop clogging and menu logging or even limit mode choice. The sort of players you are objecting to will all just switch to group or solo. We know they can't handle being shot up, that's the basis of your entire problem with them.

The issue here isn't the game, its that you don't want to play with certain people. FDEV already fixed that for you with block, it achieves exactly the same end result you want.

I don't want to block people- I want to have a basic set rule that if you win an encounter against someone fairly that they have to stick around until its over. If everything is down to 15 seconds it makes any hostile interaction pointless.

Its no wonder ED has such a dull ecosystem if every encounter is a choice. Sometimes people have to accept they lost and find ways out rather than reach for the menu option.

Indeed! They did find ways out. Which is what you are complaining about? If you interdict me, and I immediately submit and then hit menu/logout, that's a valid method of me escaping. What you are fighting for is to deny me that option. So if I submit, I either give you what you want or you s'plode me..

Because you are then using that log to escape the games consequences. Its this part that needs fixing- if you lose, you can't log your way out.

And is why it should be that with a hostile ship in that instance you can't log out, or if you do you have a penalty. Otherwise, whats the point of the pirate interdicting anyone?

That's perfectly sane. And I'd even support you.

But we both know, players will then just ignore open when they find out they'll be forced to do your bidding, if they lose the interdiction. So what you'd end up with is you floating around space in your tin can with no-one to play with.

I've met two in five years, they both kicked my bottom and ended up in my friends list afterwards. Sadly neither have logged in for years.

I'll find you one day, make sure to keep your hold full of juicy cargo so I don't have to leave you with an insult and nothing more though.

And I'm saying that the OP statement about "ED= dangerous?" is thats its not as a consequence of that rule. Its rampantly misused.
The OP want their game to be made more dangerous - however doing so would change it for all players as we all play the same game.
Without rules and consequences you wind up with a broken illogical mess that we have now.
There are rules and there are consequences - that some don't like them is obvious.

By blocking people you are basically popping them into solo from your perspective, which is where you say you want them. Problem solved, if you use the fix.

"Forced to do your bidding!" LOL! Thats the game part.

Like I said above, I'd bet my pay cheque that if open became a non-menu log type mode, it'd become a waste-space. With no-one playing it. And I'm guessing you know this too.

But if everyone decides to block each other, then it makes things pointless as its a chain reaction.
