Sorry. The UK holding company, Cloud Imperium UK Ltd, don't recall the page number but it's note 11:

Also have a look at the directors' remuneration, and the directors added in the year. Always worth a read.

In short - company ate a load of cash for operations, needed cash from elsewhere. Used that cash to pay off a debt.
Pfft! JPEGs are not tangible; everyone knows that!

But, yeah, I was right when I said if CIG wasn't in trouble it wouldn't take loans and investments. This turkey should already be roasted. -90 days tops!

Ye, I stumbled over that too. How are there no tangibles if they're recording depreciation and still have value on their books? Might be a text block from another report forgotten in there.

Well... he's enthusiastic to say the least.

Paints a misleading picture as well, suggesting people buy in at minimum because you can buy the ships in game by doing missions, but totally fails to mention how expensive they are and how there are resets every few months that will stop people from ever owning most ships and those they can grind out will go poof sooner or later.

This is about the best marketing offensive I can picture for Star Citizen, its free and its done by enthusiasts

He had not played star citizen. got into it and was blown away by it. that is not an uncommon reaction. nearly everyone i know has tried SC gets taken in by the game despite the bugs and warnings.

At this point I know a ton of people from ED who are now playing SC.

I do know quite a few people grinding up from starterish type ships (avenger titan is the main one) to get bigger ones. mostly younger people with a lot of time.

I think a new warning that i'll tell people, at least us older folk, is that if you end up liking the game (and there is a good chance of that happening) you are gonna spend an insane amount of money on ships. You're not gonna be able to resist.

This cobra guy is already (or about to be) in for $150 ish. 300i and Cutlass Black.

Well, we all know a few i think.

And i think its a lot more attractive for PvPers, which is good for ED! :D
The PvP is ...engaging...due to the ease of communication through the very basic and well used on screen live chat system, decent distance based VOIP (now) and increasingly improving ship combat mechanics...hell, even I enjoy it from time to time. Comparitively, ship to ship PvP is still skill based rather than a preset multiplayer PvP ship meta...to a degree. I should add I normally avoid any comparisons...since there's none really to be had besides the commonality of pixel spaceships.

That said...multicrew is also very good, the selectable ship channel VOIP is excellent...and importantly (for me) the multicrew system doesn't rely on some hard to swallow handwavium to acomplish. You get some mates or team up with some randoms and watch them climb aboard when you go pick them up wherever they are...which means they can't just teleport to your space chariot and magically man your guns. They can also jump out of your ship and accompany you on planet based endeavours...jump into your ground vehicle with you or independently of you or fly your ship when you go walkabout...With the newly implemented mission sharing, they can also take part in missions and get paid either flying their own ship, one of your spare ships should you own any or as an onboard crew member.

The FPS combat is spectacularly bad if you've ever played any other FPS adversarial title either PvP or PvE..but the option to just get out of your ship with upgraded personal armour to your own tastes with a few guns of choice to explore your surroundings still gives SC that something extra....I like personalising my armour and the mix and match armour component and colour options system is very good to create an individual look. I always wear the same stuff...to the point where folks I know on the servers actually recognise me on sight on occasion since it's not an off the shelf look.

The space trucking is also engaging...still a grind like ED but can be rewarding at the same time despite the constant danger of losing it all to a server disconnect. The ship upgrade system is clunky but decent and doesn't rely on some overthought, badly implemented and unbalancing game mechanic to reliably upgrade your current chariot...all you need is a bit of time, some earned aUEC (or spare donor ships) to upgrade the basic functions like shields, coolers, powerplant, QT range or weapon loadout...a feature I like and use a lot.

Like Sovapid said, it's not difficult to be blown away by Star Citizen...even in it's current state... with all the forewarnings and forebodings galore handed out by the likes of Sovapid or myself online to potential star struck eejits when playing. There's more than a few of us still drawn back night after night for the experience from the $50 starter backers to the dolphins and whales. That's way too easily dismissed by detractors with the assertion we're all simply gullible idiots or shills sucked in by predatory marketing...

Somehow, I think that evaluation is all a bit too convenient. ;)

Again an excellent 0.0.3.7 review from FailureToReport.
He makes a lot more sense when sober... His criticism on the new Vanguard variants is on point, and yeah he's right CiG didnt think out the Mantis at all. As for the Vanguard another grief of mine is the manned turret, on top of a fighter: the flight model in this game is way too nervous still to have any proper use for that.

Also learned that caves tend to exacerbate physics engine glitches, which is not all surprising...

Sill waiting for actual gameplay implementation of stealth (for my starter pack Hornet Ghost..), ladders and doors that wont randomly kill you or send you away at warp speeds, working MFDs ( i mean some that wont stop working altogether after 2 jumps ), relevant non-scripted economy, etc. etc.

I think you make some good points. I think SC has a good niche for those who want a multiplayer experience with space legs and spaceships, but which mostly revolves around player interaction (because there isn't that much to do outside of player interaction).

I don't think there is anything else on the market that quite fits in that niche. You have these sort of games but without the sci-fi setting, or with futuristic but without the spaceship side, or in the case of NMS, don't quite hit the same spot despite having some of the same features.

And of course, its perfect for those who get raging boners when they watch a Michael Bay film. Sci-fi milsim is something SC does well.

One thing that works well in SC's favour is the tiny place area. Yes, i know, some people might say what! But really, everything is condensed down to a few hub areas, which helps SC remain interactive between players. In order to maintain that closeness, they will have to get more people on the same servers as they add more systems, otherwise it will start to feel empty, which is one of the criticisms of ED from players who crave that player interaction.

I think the way for SC to succeed is to focus entirely on this player interaction angle (while of course not neglecting other features) and make it a full on MMO set in space with lots of PvP opportunities, and to smooth out some of the penalties associated with death (like respawning far from where you died and long wait timers, let people get back into the action quickly).

If they go that way, i think it stands a chance of being a semi-popular and decent game. Not a game i particularly want to play, but maybe will take a look at.

Regardless, i'm still not giving CIG a penny until i see that i can actually buy the game, not pledge. CIG simply are not to be trusted in my book with a pledge.

As always, vote with your wallet.

I fully understand the criticism against CIG and agree with the majority of it.

I agree, a focus on both PVP and player cooperation combined with plenty of good PVE missions where players work together would be the bees knees for me.

I'm not much of a PVP'er (at least not the kind that jumps on random player just because he is human) but to co-operate with other players against other players or a lot of NPC's is fun.

I don’t know man. On the other hand I know tons of people who have tried SC, then compared it with pretty much everything out there and concluded on a hard pass. Or decided to park it and check back in a year time, or simply laugh at it while they wait. See Yamiks etc. There are also lots of SC backers who have already thrown the towel or simply realized this is going nowhere fast. 🤷‍♀️

It's a bit like Marmite in that respect :)

Failure to Report has announed a future SC event

Do you own Star Citizen? Then pay attention my little Fail Squaddies! We are looking to put together a Star Citizen ingame event in the next week or so, full details are still being worked out, but I'm trying to see if we can't get 50 or so Citizens together for some real dumb in game shenanigans in the near future.

So if you are able to play Star Citizen and want to have some drinks and hopefully an amusing time, keep an eye out for the official event announcement and join the channel discord so we can start getting a tally on how many people we have available. (Commenting here if you'd be down to come works also if you hate social environments and ain't about that Discord life)

And I will probably try to attend this (watching...not playing) because this really interests me. Can you have a good time and what does the game has to offer when NOT presented by a shill or obviously paid individual. Any of our own players interested in participating?

Chances are the stream will only outline how bad everything is despite the attendees having fun. But if FTRs stream can show genuine fun and gameloops that look engaging then I m willing to accept that....specifically because he is a "hater". Thats why I believe Mole and disregard similar reports from other people on this forum :) The source is important ^^
