Why is it so hard to escape an interdiction from a pirate ship 1/5 of my boat size.

I'm participating in this weeks CG. My first.
I've encountered pirates on a few delivery runs. They might have bin Griefers/Gankers, don't know.
All the same, they killed me with ease after pulling me from super cruise. My ship went insta-puff.
This is not a surprise to me, since at one occasion I saw it was a Fer-de-Lance and I'm flying a T-9. Fighter vs Hauler.

It made me wonder. How is it possible for a Fer-de-Lance weighing 282 tonnes fully loaded (Hull mass + Full cargo + Fuel) compared to my T-9 weighing 1262 tonnes (Hull mass + Full cargo + Fuel) to bring my mass to drop out of super cruise. I represent 5 times his mass.
Bringing the T-9 to a hold, should take a huge toe on the pirates fuel.
Maybe it should take 3 Fer-de-Lance to bring a T-9 out of super cruise.

The fact that he/she can pull me out of super cruise and make me drop into normal propulsion is a bit of a mystery to me. This in my mind equals me being able to stop an elephant by grabbing its tale and by assuming a firm stance, bringing it to stop. :)

In my mind the Fer-de-lance should at best be able to slow the T-9 down to low-speed super cruise, a speed where the attacker is able to deploy hard points and attack. But the pirate would have to switch between slowing the T-9 down and attacking.

This could benefit a skilled pilot who would force the pirate to consider whether he/she is able to stop the boat before running out of fuel.
The pirates would risk being stranded at the freighters mercy.

I would ram the :)

Maybe a new module for freighters. A module that could hold 10% off the total ship mass in ice. This module should be assigned to a fire group allowing the pilot to dump a block of ice (loss weight instantly) during interdiction, giving a boost out of the tube.

Maybe this would even the playing field a bit?

So a mosquito with a flashlight can bring me out of super cruise.....darn i need some anti pirate spray
You seem to be missing the point. If the ability to fly in SC was dependent upon you maintaining an uninterrupted should of darkness around your ship, then yes, anything that can disrupt that darkness will disrupt your ships ability to fly in SC. Size has nothing to do with it - they are not slinging a rope around your ship and physically pulling it to a halt, they are attacking your ability to use SC.

I'm yet to see any evidence that avoiding a player led interdiction is possible.

If there is please post vids!

As it is, it's best to submit and either jump out of system, or back into supercruise if their mass won't delay you too much.

Alternatively fly in supercruise to avoid the interdiction in the first place, e.g. in a parabola or similar

This has bugged me from day 1.
Also that fact that interdiction is never explained by FD, and the rules governing the mechanics change, seemingly at every major patch.

I've been interdicted by a competent pilot in a Sidewinder. Not a big deal except for the fact that I was in my tanked war wagon other wise know as a Corvette. Quite the size differential. It's not the ship that does the interdiction, it's the device that cause the physics that make an fsd work, not work.
