The Eagle - The Pilot

No sir, I don't have both the Fed & Imp Eagle... (see line 2 of sig)

Another great video, @The Pilot - and featuring the fun little ship that goes very fast too...

And now I see yet another video of yours that I've mised... oh well :)

Keep them coming, please!

Eagle is a darn fine small Ship. Looks like a Fighter, flies like a Fighter, sounds like a Fighter :)

Probably the best early Ship to begin to learn Combat with at minimal cost...

I bought my Eagle when I got my Oculus, just for the view in VR. Liked it enough to upgrade to the Imperial version. With enhanced performance thrusters.

Use it as a runabout to update commodity prices and a wake scanning mat collector.

Fun ship.

I use my imp eagle for a shuttle and wake scanner. 40 ly jump range with a guardian booster. Fuel tank needs some love though.

Love it. Fun ship to play with.

Honestly, I think the Viper is a better ship to learn in. It's not as great in the turns, but it is a bit more forgiving. Then from there, I'd go to the Cobra.

Agreed. Never used it as a wake scanner though. That's smart. Zip between points fairly quickly, fast scan, move on. Smart.

Well the best thing about the Eagle is that it's CHEAP and repairs cost are pretty low, so yeah an early combat ship that's meant to be thrown away when you upgrade to the Vulture and beyond. Nice video Pilot as always.(y)

Another awesome video. The makers of SC should really take a page from you when doing their mock commercial videos about their ships . . . particularly since you use in-game footage, and you deliver information in style (and a great sense of humour).

Thank you.

Eagle Mk2 or ImpEagle?

Been eyeing up that very paintjob in your video for a few weeks now, to splurge my freeArx(tm) on, but I don't know which is better... I do like the fancier cockpit of the ImpEagle better though...

As for the video, as excellent as always, good work(y)

That's what I'm using my Viper Mk3 for. Shieldless (protection just slows you down!) with a long range modded scanner, and very fast indeed.

This. People who learn in an Eagle know their defensive flying. Pilots who start out combat in other ships tend to rely on a ships durability much more, the Eagle doesn't allow that. Mind you, people who start out on other ships also can learn defensive flying, but no other ship forces the pilot to learn as much as the Eagle does.

And in the end, even in a bigger ship, once a while things go south. Which then might result in an expencive rebuy. While those who learned the lessons early on, at cheap rebuy, have a better chance to avoid the high costs.

So indeed, other ships are the easier way of learning. But if the user has the necessary dedication, there's no better tutor than the Eagle.

It depends on what you're looking for. Speed? Go Imperial. Agility? Go Federation.
The hardpoint placement for the Mk2 is better, but the Imperial Eagle has a medium slot.
Etc, etc.

The Eagle is far more forgiving to permanent FA ON flying ("Newbie Combat") than a Viper III (or let alone a Viper IV), hence my recommendation as the best "learning the basics of Combat" Ship.
The superior Pitch rate of the Eagle easily affords it.

As soon as the most basic Ship handling has become Muscle Memory, the Viper III is indeed the next best choice for newer Players though.

You're not making my decision any easier, you know.

Thanks;)

The first part is true. MK2 turns a bit better, Imperial is much faster and still quite agile. But the part about better hardpoint placement confuses me. The MK2 has two small hardpoints on the belly and a small on the back. The Imperial has the same two small hardpoints on the belly and a medium one on the back, replacing the small one.

What's better on the hardpoint placement of the MK2?

ImpEagle it is!

What happened to the sound quality in your video? It sounds distant, not just quiet, but kind of distorted. And it's not my settings (unless something weird has happened at my end, but other videos are unaffected) !
