I'm not opposed to ice planets getting a face lift, but I'm just assuming they are part of New Era where we get all sorts of new planets, specifically atmospheric worlds, which include ice planets. You'll notice a certain "fake / not fake" video of base-building in future ED is on an atmospheric ice planet.Ice Planets are just the most common type of planet in ED galaxy and apart from that they are also the most boring type of planets, so yes an improvement to these would be very welcome for explorers![]()
There’s also a huge group of players who are most excited by the many new additions to exploration. I know from talking to so many of you online and in-person, this is a huge moment and the development team are working really hard to deliver new content and mechanics to give explorers that thrill of venturing out into the black.

During this process, we have made a decision to adjust the focus of content that were previously planned for the Chapter Four update, adding some significant new gameplay, but it also means some other aspects will have to change.
I fail to see why everyone is so obsessed with ice planets. Did you all grow up as Frozen fans or something?

I suspect this too, I'm more bored with the lack of info on this feature since more than a year. Anyway I think when Atmoplanets will be released I will never touch an airless planet anymore (I already completely skip these in NMS). In that case it would be a terrible timing to release ice planets.I'm not opposed to ice planets getting a face lift, but I'm just assuming they are part of New Era where we get all sorts of new planets, specifically atmospheric worlds, which include ice planets. I'm referring to the new Community Update...
Yeah it really sucks that we have to stay for almost another year (yes 2nd quarter of 2020 could be up to August 2020 and you all know we'll get there!) without new contents. Damn it really sucks!!! That's a big pill to swallow.
But yeah... the game really needs a good ground for the "NEW ERA" so this change of direction is welcome on my side too..
But there's one damn thing that I still don't understand...
Why ICE PLANETS have completely disappeared from Frontier Radar??? Why they never make a single reference to this delayed feature?

You're right, I messed up.Imma just point out that Q2 2020 ends in June 2020. At worst we'll need to wait an extra 6 months (on top of the original 12 month delay) before we can buy carriers.
I'm in the opposite position.. I was about to go mining some void opals for the next 2 weeks to recover a bit of credit lost in the last 2 CG's but I see now that's not that urgent anymoreYeah, it sucks. I was looking forward to picking up a carrier, but now I've got more time to build up as many credits as I think I might need so eh.![]()
Yep, everything's possible. But if they plan Ice Planets for New Era it could mean no Atmospheric Planets because the graphic development is still back in the development.I honestly have no idea where the ice planet rework went. It might be coming as part of the new era, but at this point your guess is as good as mine.

too late... it's already in the long term memory "partition" of my brainBetter for FDev if such ideas just fade from player's memories ...
It's all on ice...Simple. For the same reason we never hear from FDev about dynamic capital-class ships, space-legs, atmospheric planets, etc. because it is not going to happen.

arx, obviously. At risk of derailing ..... " deeper and richer gameplay mechanics " Have we seen those yet?
This part keeps happening...Snip.."but not everything we originally envisaged. "This hasn't appeared yet, either has it ? Which is the point of OP's post.
I didn't realise the FSS, new DSS and the plethora of different findable new stuff on planets and in space have gone. Damn, now I'm wondering what game I was playing last night. These seem to have joined the ice planets in oblivion...
