Can we have more info about Fleet Carriers even if they are delayed please?

I remember a recurrent number of questions about FC's that are still unanswered.
Could FDEV please share more info by providing an answer to all or some of the following questions?

  • Cost of a Fleet Carrier (not the exact price, but a range and the number of zeros)
  • What will be the cost of a Support Vessel compared to a FC? Or is it already included with the FC?
  • Refuelling: how much quantity (around 100, 500, 1000, 5000) of this "new commodity" is required to refill the SC tanks? What will be the average cost/unit of this commodity at starports?
  • Can we store additional fuel in the SC?
  • Can we store commodities, materials and multiple owned ships inside a FC?
  • Can we have more types of support vessels for the same FC? If yes are they stored at some special starport and we have to swap them or do they all remain docked to the FC?
  • How do Support Vessels work? Will they fly in Supercruise and reach out to support the CMDR with dedicated animations or are these just enabler for FC additional services or something in-between?
  • Jumps to explored/known systems: where does a FC drop after hyperspace? Next to the main star entry point or can we select the planet/moon/signal where to drop?
  • For unexplored systems: can the FC jump to unexplored system? Will it drop near the main star (with the risk of overheat in star binary systems) or at a random place?
  • Since we can't directly fly the FC, how will we be able to move the FC from one planet to another one? Will we have a micro-jumps?
  • Will we have a FC cockpit/deck with the dedicated UI to manage the FC or is it an additional menu in our ship like the existing Starport Services?

(Methinks that had FC's been arriving in December that we would have already been given the 'meat' regarding cost and capability to build the interest of players up ready for the release!)
 
Much as we'd all like to know the answers to these and many other questions I really don't think that will happen until a month before release, when FD will know exactly how FCs will work.

The truth is probably that FD don't 100% know themselves and the 8+ month hiatus now gives them further dev time to nail down these features. If I were cynical (surely not) I might suggest that FCs weren't ready for December and this "bug fix" window was the perfect opportunity / excuse to delay them further...but that would be a very cynical POV.

I'd actually prefer to take their statement at face value...in the end it makes very little difference to the outcome.

a bit like the focused feedback so they give a flavour but not give too much away might be a good idea.

OR - they could also give a hint to small hardpoint love and say "yes Kenneth, perhaps small hardpoints will get a little love" something along those lines would be sufficient
 
No because if they announce even one thing and have to recant for technical reasons there'll be a riot.
At one month from the expected release??? FC development was supposed to be near the end since the previous figure was a December release. They are for sure aware of the main mechanics...
Anyway "no" is also an answer...

Do you really think they started developing already?
Oh well, I think they should've anyway asked themselves these questions before starting any concept. You can't start developing if you don't even know what you want to develop and the trailer released few months ago was a demonstration that they at least knew in which direction they were heading.

Be careful, I remember that someone in the past was already warned or banned for impersonating FDEV :p
 
What do you think would have happened if FD had answered the OP's questions? Would it have stopped all the repetitious threads on FCs? Would it have stopped all the speculation and guessing? Even if FD had clearly stated that the answers they gave could change before release, would FD still be held accountable if something changed?

Why should it change? Most questions are about generic mechanics, not advanced features and FC development was supposed to be finished in a month. Do you really believe FDEV has no clue where to place a FC after the hyperspace jump or if we can store commodities? I can understand that a dedicated cockpit may sound as an extra feature but all the rest is really basic requirement to start any kind of development (even at concept level!).

Yes. They can and will charge, because those things are subject to technical limitations.

Any design is based on high and low level requirements. Without these requirements you can't even start a design. What you're saying is a loop paradox or a very bad design management. So I fully disagree.
 
FD announce in summer 2020 that FC will be part of New Era they can't talk about yet but in the latter half of 2020 they'll announce that New Era is not feasible. Thanks to the great community we'll working hard on new content for 2021. End of 2021 we get some bug fixing and the official end of life of ED. Good job FD marketing. Let enjoy planet boring. :)
