Can we have more info about Fleet Carriers even if they are delayed please?

I don't believe we have any evidence that fleet carriers are "buggy". I imagine they found adding fleet carriers to the current game would make it all fall over.

That's my take on it as well. Either FD have found out that the FC breaks something in the game in a major way or have decided they want the FC to be able to do 'something' that it currently can't. Maybe that 'something' is as vanilla as FD decided they want to have more that one FC in an instance or they now decided they want FC to be destructable or some other activity.

It's ridiculous to suggest that the design of an asset that was originally intended for release a year ago - and is/was subsequently due for another release in just over a month - should not already be firmly established.

It's also almost certainly the reason why FDev are reluctant to release more details. 😕
Its ridiculous to assume that's not something they absolutely would 100% do.

You know.

Ice planets and fleet carriers being the two big examples.

They've burnt their fingers twice on the same feature. Unlikely they come out of their snail shell without the patch in hand i suspect.

Which of course makes it impossible for feedback once they've announced it, doesn't matter how hard they're facepalming for missing something.. but that's how frontier rolls.

No because if they announce even one thing and have to recant for technical reasons there'll be a riot.
I'll never be able to understand how something becomes unable to be made in a video game. Any excuse, no matter how true seems like total . Who cares if it doesn't math or seem possible. It's a video game for crying out loud. If we wanted realistic we would go outside and play sports or something lol.

Anyways I think we should riot regardless.

No....

(Methinks that had FC's been arriving in December that we would have already been given the 'meat' regarding cost and capability to build the interest of players up ready for the release!)
more fdev knows they are likely to renege on things they say. The less they say the less you have to be disappointed when you get the released product.

I was gonna say finished product, however, I think those are a thing of the past from everyone.

Also, I feel he was more asking as, since they pushed back fc release how about some q&a to make up for it. And if not, it's what should be asked.

Yep, just look how bad things are with them saying "We're going to delay this to fix issues before we introduce these and compound the problems we already have."

I think it speaks volumes for Frontier to not have gone "Screw you bunch of ingrates, we're done with this." already.

I bet they aren't even finished with it yet and THAT'S the real reason for the push back, not the bugs.

How do you know that? Have you been given special secret information on how the FC will operate? How do you know that mega ships and FC aren't the same thing? In fact, if you know so much why are you asking in the first place?
Everyone knows that FC will not be moved by FDEV on the server tick, if this is what you're referring.
Didn't you know that?

It's more like:

CASE 1:
Player: How's the weather in England?
Typical Forum Member: I would speculate it's cloudy
White Knight: The weather is wonderful! I'm hyped for the rain to come
Doom and Gloomer: [If it's hot] How dare FD increase the temperature, don't they know I wanted to go skiing
Doom and Gloomer: [If it's cold] Stupid FD, can't even get the damn weather right, I was going to go for a picnic and now I can. If HG looked after the weather I would be at a picnic now.
Doom and Gloomer: [If it is raining] Stupid FD, never rains in RDR2, these guys are useless

Doom and Gloomer: [If it isn't raining] I blame Branden, he promised rain during the kickstarter …….
Star Citizen Devotee: We don't worry about the weather, CR told us it would always be perfect. Doesn't matter anyway, i have already pledged US25,000 to ensure I will always have perfect weather, well I have an e-mail receipt saying I have it .....

FDEV (3 months later): The weather here is EXCITING and the rain will come SOON!

CASE 2:

Fixed it for you :D

I never quite understood what the support vessel was there for, like what was the idea with this new feature.

The support ship is part of the FC. You get cabin and living quarters, engine rooms and fuel store, these are attached each end to the support ship that has a varying number of pads and features designed to help in a particular role, at least that has always been my take on it. You don't get separate sips flying around with you, each FC is composed of modular units assembled as requried for particular tasks.

That was actually one of the aspects of the FC that we knew that was turning me off them. I don't want to spend all those credits/Arx/my first born and end up with a FC that is only suited to one role. I can't remember if there was a generic support ship (don't think so) and to me that was a worry. What if I want to use my new FC for combat (until I get to Elite) then decide I want to travel the galaxy for a few months, but need to do some trading first. Does that mean I need to purchase first a Combat support ship, then a mission/trade support ship then finally an exploration support ship?

Damn talk about a credit sink ... lol

Fix it for you :D

White Knight: skiing is pointless and 40°C in December is wonderful

White Knight: you can't believe everything they say, next time you sign a mortgage do you expect the bank will really ask you to pay back the money every single month?

I think I agree there, even if you kit it out for exploration it should still be somewhat useful for, say, mining if you decide to do some mining while exploring. There should be a general use option.

Does FD Know any of this? I think I read every post from FD on FC and I dont remember seeing this at all. I assumed there would be NO cockpit or cabins, FD mentioned that you would control the FC from the galmap but it is possible I am mistaken.

a bit like the focused feedback so they give a flavour but not give too much away might be a good idea.

OR - they could also give a hint to small hardpoint love and say "yes Kenneth, perhaps small hardpoints will get a little love" something along those lines would be sufficient

I'd like to see small seismic charges well before that.

I HAD to add that. You totally forgot. Tut, tut. ;)
