Of Cutters and Corvettes

If you are in a system with Federal factions and fairly high rank yourself most pirate lords will be flying corvettes and they will be all over CZs.

I don't see many NPC Cutter pirates, but they do make a frequent showing in CZs where Imperial factions are fighting.

Ofc they are.
Go in a High Combat Zone in a war between an Empire or Federation backed factions and you have a change to encounter them
They dont pop in High CZ where war is between Independents or Alliance factions.

Where? Do you roam in Empire space a lot, or do you 'get around'? I have a small theory that cutters and 'vettes would be associated with the power that sponsors them.

Is it me or is there a reason for, after 2000+ hours, I have yet to encounter a Corvette and a Cutter NPC?
The biggest ships I ever see are the Anaconda and Type-10 (and the Beluga Rick6549). Does one have
to reach Elite Combat first? Am I just not in the right neighborhood? Am I in the wrong ship?
Am I drinking the wrong brand of beer?

I don't get it.

I have destroyed both NPC Cutters and NPC Corvettes. It has been a while and I cannot remember the system but it is supposed to be good for collecting certain data and materials from destroyed ships, a POI near a space station somewhere. Someone will remember the name ...

I've seen Cutters and Corvettes in CZs and such but never ever saw one just regularly land in a station or flying around.
I did get interdicted in my Krait mk2 by a Type 10 the other day though, he died.

Encountered some Corvettes and at least two Cutters at High RES. Corvettes were plain vanilla stock and they were burning pretty good but one Cutter was most likely engineered and was real pain to deal with.

I've also seen NPC Cutters guarding Capital ships but have never been interdicted by one.
