This is what Maintenance Mode must be like :(

Deep down you know this game sucks. I know it, you know it, we all collectively know it. It’s fine man, just be honest with yourself.
Stop talking out of your rear end mate. You think the game sucks. For me, it's one of them best games I have played, even with the issues and flaws.

No, I do not think the game sucks. I have 1000s of hours of play time. I wouldnt do that if I think the game sucks. Life is short and I don't do things that I don't enjoy for large parts of my life because it's pointless, a bit like posting in a forum of a game I don't like. Better things to do with my life.

But you reply to forum posts you don’t like. Constantly. Admit it you’re a hater too :p

I wonder why Rambojambo isn't banned yet. He is clearly a troll and his agenda is to be as disruptive as possible. The only explanation for his behaviour is that he gets paid for it, if only the quality of his posts wouldn't be so low. Nobody would pay for such nonsense. As a professional 'paid by Braben poster' I know what I am talking about.

Im afraid to answer incase you start calling me names. The white knights round here are well established, they would defend any critisism of frontier to the death of the thread no matter how weak their position. All the forum regulars know who they are :D

Its not just White Knights though. A lot of people who want to see FD wake up and fill in the blanks are about chipping in ideas. For how long I don't know, but they are there.

Fact: White Knights don't exist. Anyone who claims otherwise without giving examples just can't respect different opinions. Apart from Stigbob maybe.

Indeed. Whilst Incan only speak for myself I am enthusiastic about giving my 2p with ED whether positive or negative BECAUSE I love the game.

Yes I am hugely dissapointed at the direction and speed of progress since launch, yes I am genuinely worried that we could get a Hellion like admission from the Devs (tho at the same time ultimately would love an honest 30 mins Dev diary about the story so far and the aims for the next 5 years. What went well and what would be done differently if they could do over.

But I would care about none of the above if at its core I didn't thing the game was worthy of such investment of my time.
I love ED but I don't always like ED ;)

(And also ED is not the NPC driven game with multiplayer options I thought I was buying. Everything else aside that is my biggest gripe. Hypothetically if 2020 bought in NPC wings, NPC crew with a bit of RPG progression and some generic escort and protect as well as patrol missions like they were meant to be, and fixed the lack of persistence of magically repairing assassins, that alone would keep me happy for 12 months

I think all the player attackers who have dropped off from the fss conversation today are a good list of the real white knights. The people still talking about it are the people that care about the feature :)

Not really. You could just as well argue that everyone who doesn't want the game to be open only is a white knight. And yet there are many people who like Solo / PG and want to get the ADS back. So your logic is quite flawed and contradictory.
In reality, everyone who disagrees with your very personal opinion is a white knight, because that way you don't need to admit that your opinion is just that, an opinion.

But what is balance? Is this another of the fractious issues that have a multitude of 'solutions' depending on one's stance in-game?
I keep reading balance being brought up as an issue and fail completely each time I read a proposition to comprehend exactly what is being 'balanced'!

Bug fixing is a given, and should have been an ongoing task throughout the year, every year, I only see a few - but my involvement in the game is not as broad as others, so very 'easy' for me to not see something that has been affecting another player.

Not a criticism or condemnation of your comment, but a genuine question :)

ETA: I have just read your post in another topic (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/community-update-22-10.527123/post-8112688) so understand your position better.
Yeah, that other post clarifies some of the more egregious points, for me. For me, a balanced game would look like this:

If you encounter another ship, especially another player, you really have no idea how the fight is going to go. A PvE-fit ship would be just as capable as putting up a fight as a PvP-fit ship. A small ship would be able to take on a big ship, and vice-versa. Even a trade or mining ship would be able to put up a fight and present a credible threat to a combat ship. Fitting for combat would be more about adding convenience and utility to combat activites, rather than mostly just meaning having a preposterous health raw advantage over an not-min-maxed opponents. You wouldn't have to sacrifice your ability to engage with a fit into the world of elite, just to be on remotely even footing with someone only interested in fighting players. Fights would be decided by flying skill and strategy, rather than raw numbers advantages, and an extremely wide variety of builds and tactics would be comparably viable.

In a nutshell, every combat encounter would have significant risk of defeat, and likewise a real chance at victory. Getting interdicted by a high-ranked NPC pirate and a player pirate would be similar experiences with similar odds, the difference mainly only being in the person flying the enemy ship, rather than the ship itself. Combat would be thrilling and organic for all parties. The only people that would really miss out are the ones that are only interested in heavily-one-sided fights they know they'll win.

This right there.

Thank you for taking the time to explain further, and without obvious bias :)

I remember ice planets. This time last year I still thought we were getting them at the end of 2018, we even saw pics of them in game. Now, today, I honestly have no idea if we are ever going to get them at all. I have no idea what Frontier's status on them is. Are they coming later? Have they been cancelled completely? Who knows, we haven't received any communication about them whatsoever.

Why?

Because reasons. Secrets and frack.

Ice planets. Sigh.

Did we ever see the new Ice Planets "in game" or just the Aspirations the artists created to aim for in game.

Who knows. I think it is, but then again there is other games that maybe do it better. I'm rather sceptical FD has the right ideas for a space game of my taste after what I've seen with ED.
Let's say they do a rewrite of ED but the engineers and combat mechanics stay as they are. They do make the game Open Only though and also reintroduce the ADS. Would you be happy with that?
