African Wild Dog

I was looking at some of the screen shots of the Habitat Animals that were posted in the forums and was on the Red List today trying to study up on some animals. I noticed that the African Wild Dog was labeled as "Endangered" in-game and the Red List has it listed as "Critically Endangered". I double checked and it has the same scientific name as the screen shot from Beta.

I'm not sure I am looking at this correctly... sorry for any confusion.

Kind Regards and looking forward to the release.

Wikipedia, World Wildlife Fund, and National Geographic all list them as Endangered on their sites so Red List (never even heard of that) is probably wrong.

I tried to log a ticket in on the Issue Tracker (via the link in the Beta discussion box) and the drop down box wouldn't allow me to enter "Planet Zoo". I saw the post that the beta forum was closing so didn't want to post this feedback there there. I also searched the issue tracker and this issues didn't pop up in the search results. Please excuse my ignorance if I posted this in the wrong place. I just wanted to help in anyway I can to make the game as accurate and complete as possible for all of us.

Kind Regards and looking forward to the release.
That's very strange, cause when I just went to IUCN they were just listed as endangered which is their proper status.
Very weird that it showed up as critically endangered with you.

Technically the list that is shown on Wikipedia, WWF & National Geographic is the one that is made by IUCN Red List, they are the only ones that assign conservation status.

It did say there was a system update on 31 October 2019 in the API... so maybe it was a glitch. Thank you for the feedback!
You're welcome! :)
And yeah I suppose, after the lastest CITES convention and with the new CITES appendixes going in effect in a few weeks I am sure some conservation statusses might be revised in the coming month. CITES & IUCN often work closely together.

Which makes me wonder whether Frontier will keep their animals' status up to date or leave it as is.
Elite Dangerous was updated due to recent discoveries fortunately ...

Different subpopulation. OP's article is talking about the north African subpopulation.

JUSTIFICATION
The only country in North Africa in which African Wild Dogs may still persist is Algeria, but there is no information on their current status. If they do persist, there seems little doubt that the total subpopulation size does not exceed 50 mature individuals, thus qualifying the subpopulation for listing as Critically Endangered under D.
