Frontier, thanks for tweaking the animal lifespans, but please consider slowing down the time counter as well to match the changes realistically

Thanks to the Devs for improving the animal lifespans, as that is one of the aspects many of us were asking for. However, just one change would make it better, slowing down just the time counter.
The developers over at the beta feedback forum said that they marked the "time issue" report on the issue tracker as fixed because they re balanced the animal lifespans, hopefully to be much longer, but from a recent interview, the time counter still runs at 3 seconds/day.
Changing this to be realistic wouldn't require any more balancing changes, you'd just have to change the amount of seconds per day so the time speed matches the new improved animal lifespans realistically. It wouldn't make sense for animals that used to live 50 years to now live 100 years, so the only change that is currently needed is the time counter so they actually live 50 years, realistically. Time speed is very important to a lot of us from all the threads we've started about it, so this little change would make a lot of people happy.

I still believe there would be quite a bit of balancing required to make slower timespeed work (just a guess from my part), which could be why it wasn't easy to change for launch.

I do however believe it will get changed eventually, since the majority of players have brought this issue up time and again. We'll see how the full release plays out, but I have a feeling people will still feel disgruntled with the fast pace and bring it up again.

I'd rather animals have realistic aging and slower speed, than time kept the same it is and animals having twice the agespan of real life. That seems an odd 'fix' to me.

Agreed. This would be more of a "duck tape" fix, but I'm hoping there will be much more balancing after launch when there's a lot of the playerbase putting their opinions in on what has to be changed. But starting with this "quick fix" would be a good first step

So,... how certain are you that they've not changed the time counter? Is it possible that this was a slightly older build that didn't have the change in yet or is it 100% that the time counter still runs at 3 seconds / day?

While there's no confirmation on the status of the build, considering: 1. the interview is new 2. it was the full game because of animals appearing in tags that weren't in the beta and 3. Frontier has already said they're ready for release aka have the full release build ready to go, it's hard to imagine the game they showed off was anything but what we're getting on Tuesday.

If so, I'll be quite disappointed. I felt like days and years went by way too fast in the beta, and considering the amount of feedback on the forums about it, I'm not alone. Just extending animals lifespans isn't going to fix the issue; it feels more like a bandied.

As I've mentioned before, there would be other balancing that would need to be done along with that so if they didn't have time, I'm not entirely surprised if they couldn't fix that for launch.

I would, however, be disappointed if the problem continues to persist and they never fix it. But I'm ok with waiting a bit if necessary

I agree 👍

If its really a change that is has much core work, i doubt this would come after launch. I I also have my doubts about the motivation of the breeding rate change. But we will see after release whats about all this leaves, market, breeding...and so on...

the balancing itself that I'm sure people will ask for after release may take a lot of work, but for now I think a quick fix, such as artificially making time "slower" by slowing down just the time counter and nothing else should do the trick with the limited amount of time to release

Aww, sad to hear. I hope they fix it eventually!
I've lost my hope for now, judging from what some youtubers said it really seems that time wasn't changed at all at launch. We'll see in around 5 hours, anyway. Gonna be really disappointed, specially since all the community asked for it and then they probably just added 1-10 years to the lifespans, because let's be honest, any more would be unrealistic. But 1-10 years in the current speed is not nearly enough :(

I will be so disappointed too. What a shame. Like, I will play the game still, but probably not so much as if the time speed would have been fixed. I was so excited for career and franchise mode, but now I’m not sure I will be enjoying it much after I have seen 100 animals die on the first week (or more!). Eventually it becomes imposible to remember all of them by name and personality, there’s just not enough time to keep with them.

I was particularly excited with doing some cool ideas for the exhibits, but I think now I will skip them altogether. I’m not adopting an animal to watch them die 15 minutes after forcing me micromanage 2000 babies.

I don’t really like playing on Sandbox, so hopefully they reconsider their decision.
