PC Gets hot and smells weird.

This is the PC I have. It runs well, and the specs are what was recommended for the game.
If I was you, I'd contact the seller on Amazon and see what they can do for you. Especially considering you only bought it in July. There could be a faulty fan or component in the PC, and if you don't know what you're doing, its best to get help from the PC manufacture. I don't think dust would be the cause of the problem if its only 4 months old.

If it's on the floor or near dust it could be. It's not hard for a case to become a dust magnet with the right airflow.

It's probably better to use compressed air or pull it out by hand. Compressed air is really convenient though. You can buy the cans in a lot of places usually. Just don't get bored and start spraying stuff for fun. The cost can, "build up!" 8)

Does the case have any fan filters on it. Those can potentially get dirty.

Didn't get it on amazon, I bought it at a walmart. I just used the Amazon link to show the pc I have, incase its a shoddy build or something.

It has two filters, one on top and one in back I believe. The one on top is extremely dusty.

Clean it off and see if it helps. If it's dusty other things might be dusty too. Never know. Do you have access to a compressed air can for PC cleaning? It will help with anything inside that is hard to reach. The filter can be cleaned manually.

Dust can built up under the CPU fan and other things that aren't apparent sometimes. Although it can also be very apparent.

Yeah, I'll give it a try tomorrow. From the link I sent, does the pc fans look good? are they too small, or not powerful enough?

The ones with the PC are usually fine. Although it might be able to expand. If it's a dust issue though it may be the cultprit and you can save money buy just cleaning it. Do the free things first.

Yeah, I'll try cleaning them, since it could just be the dust messing with the fans or making it hard for the heat to escape, causing the GPU to melt, or start to melt.

Edit: Its only when I play planet zoo that this happens, and where is my GPU, so that I can check it?

The weird smell comes from "dust bunnies" that were sucked inside the case - Especially inside the power supply and graphics card fans - Turn off PC and use a vacuum to remove them thru the intake and exhaust ports on both, also clean the other fans in the PC , (dont forget the front fan behind the faceplate) - this will solve that problem.

You also might want to invest in some decent thermal paste and re do it on your cpu or invest in a better heatsink.

IF your not used to building your own pc's get some one who can, more as playing around with the cpu can mean death to it if your a bit unsure.. Yes Ive smelt the smell of burning cpu in the morning.

Send it back, as it shouldn't be smelling whatsoever especially as it's a new build. I wouldn't even open the case as some of these pre-builds can have strict warranty. Very much doubt it will be a dust problems. I am lucky that one of UK major PC firms is only 5 mins away from work and home.

Very important to check your warranty !! Don't break the seal, some stores are very picky on this while some appreciate the effort..

Dust could be a problem, you'll notice it very soon (even on the outside)
Some cases have a flawed design and collect much more dust…
(When I was a kid, we used to have an Aldi store pre-build PC with that problem - basically damaged most components because of the stored heat)

With that PC you shouldn't have any issues running Planet Zoo.

From the pictures I can see 2, potentially 3 spots for fans yet can only actually see 1. Can you confirm how many actual fans this case has?

Ideally you'll want two fans minimum, one intake and one exhaust fan.

I'd check that all fans are working correctly and if there's more than one, that they both spin in opposite directions from one another.

I'd also download HWMonitor and check temperatures, especially on the GPU and CPU. You can Google their respective safe operating temp ranges.

If anything doesn't seem normal contact the seller. If there's only one fan, contact the seller and ask if adding another will void warranty.

Looks like you got some good advice...

If it turns out, however, that the fumes end up giving you super powers.... I think we'd all enjoy updates on your heroic (or otherwise) exploits 'n all.

Cheers!

PC itself looks fine to me. I wouldn't be expecting it to have any issues running PZ.
Give it a dust out.

Get someone with a bit of experience to check it out for you.
