Sick of not knowing!!

Yep I am convinced, FD need to immediately add a warning if your ship is being attacked by some coward using premium ammo. Additionally, the following need warnings prominently displayed as well:

If the ship that is attacking you has legacy engineering;
If the ship in fact has any engineering applied, what that engineering is, to what level and if any experimental effects have been added.
Most importantly, it should be imperative that an instance wide notification goes out to all Commanders if a pilot enters the area and said pilot is using an alt account. We can't have the situation were some poor misguided PvP master sees what he thinks is a over confident junior ranked pilot, ie a Competent ranked pilot in an Cutter and think he has an easy target only to find out that his intended target is in fact an Elite ranked pilot. Nope, can't have that at all, everything must be divulged prior to any commencement of combat otherwise it is totally unfair.

I mean it's kinda silly. Just as silly as me wanting to have engineers go away. It's there and you better assume it's gonna be used. Just like the engineer crapfest. Which seems to be fine for some reason, when it's basically just the same: Overpowered, imbalanced crap.

Don't you guys have phones combat awareness? I mean you're probably not used to be scratched in your metaships, but that is usually what makes competition fun. The key is noticing damage intake. When it's higher than usual: Run.

In case you wonder: I slept over it and today I just find the mere idea quite silly.
Yes, because you neither use Engineering nor PvP. What a display of ignorance....

Honestly - pretty dumb reason. But it's just my opinion. I admire your fair play attitude, I do not agree with it but admire.
I'm not PvP player, it costs too much stress for me. But I had my share of PvP in my life so speaking from some experience. In PvP you take ANY advantage you can put your hands on. Like "at war and in love - all moves allowed". Not using ammo that gives you advantage (and we're not speaking about some silly 5% but whole one third) is like attempting to beat Usain Bolt while wearing high heels.
And this motto redeems everything? What a stupid argument to make, because you can use it to "excuse" every design aspect of a game.

To the "this-is-fine-crowd": Remember when EA and DICE tried to add huge damage buffs to Battlefront 2 (the new one), but behind a grind/ paywall? Remember how this played out?

Only because not many players here are PvPers and don't experience this issue.

I don't understand why anyone who isn't using premium to gain an unseen advantage in PvP would oppose this tbh...

Well in that case it is pretty damn evident that the OP should have posted his OP in the PvP sub folder then where all the experts are.

I think you'll find that subforum is full of PvP haters too... not that where the issue is posted has any bearing on it's validity.
Sorry, can't help it if the PvP community isn't that popular, maybe they need to look at why they aren't popular if haters inhabit their own sub-forum.

These forums are and have always been anti-pvp... I thought everyone knew this. Discord is where all the PvPers are generally, sometimes reddit (not the main sub mind, that place has got as bad as here in the last couple of years).

The forum contains lots of pro-PvP and anti-PvP players and there are plenty of topics (not this one tbh) where their goals are mutually exclusive.

I think I would rather have that than only echo chambers.

There used to be more PvP voices here, but most have given up bothering - good suggestions get ignored by the devs and/or shouted down by a localised vocal majority who just dislike PvP in general.

This thread is a classic example of pointless negativity, there is literally no reason to be against the idea unless you're using premium to your advantage in PvP. NPC's do not use premium so you would never even see a notification or have an audio warning if you don't fight other players.

Suggestions get ignored across the board, the T&Cs of this forum specifically state Frontier do not want suggestions unless they request them:

5. SUBMISSIONS.
Frontier's company policy does not allow it to accept or consider creative ideas, suggestions, or materials other than those it has specifically requested. Accordingly, we must request that no visitors to this Site, or any venue or web site governed by these Terms of Use, submit or send any original creative materials, including but not limited to submissions of scripts, story lines, fan fiction, characters, drawings, information, suggestions, ideas or concepts.

It isn't anti-PvP specifically.

I'm only looking at how many PvP-focused suggestions have made it into the game... there aren't many.

Tell me about it:

Combat Logging Punishment Proposal
Meaningful PvP Proposal

I try to help, I really do. And I get it in the neck from both sides. The proposal to add a notification for premium ammo is reasonable and has no downside. otoh it is a relatively minor QoL improvement that most (I guess) players would not notice.

A change that was implemented that comes to mind is the report crimes timer. I was against that and it continues to affect the way I play, which is to be a sneaky so & so slipping through the net. But I just plan a bit further ahead now, it's not a big deal.

That is about as one-sided as you can get. Suggestions to benefit PvP only, to the detrriment of other play styles, abound and are 'shouted down' (your words, but apt) by those who recognise the slant. Suggestion which appear to benefit all playstyles are less likely to be buried under a mountain of discontent (but if one group feels it would 'disadvantage' them...)

The PvP community already 'shouted down' an experimental effect that would have benefited those who don't indulge in their 'sport'.... So I believe your comment to be only slightly biased :)

Is it time for all of the usual denigrations to start yet?
