Not enough animals.

Absolutely ridiculous that this game calls itself "Planet Zoo" and it only has about 70 or so species, where are all the popular animal species that should be in this game. Polar bears, penguins, kangaroos, seals, sea lions, foxes, etc. The list can continue for quite some time but the main point is that there isn't really any aquatic animals or arctic animals that are pretty common in zoos around the world. The game is also missing plenty of other types of animals that would be quite interesting to see such as koalas, kangaroos, sloths, monkeys. There are tons and tons of different monkey species that if added would just bring more depth to the game. It's a simple thing that is missing right now and that's more animals. I'm just very disappointed in the lack of animals currently in the game, I mean what's the plan, to release more as a DLC and make us pay extra for them? If more animals are added through updates and free DLC then that would make up for the lack of animals now but even if that ends up being the case they still should have released this game with many more species then what it has now.

I think there are too many animals. I would've liked less similar-type animals and a more polished game on launch. Such as animations for interactions between animals, basically just proper social behaviour for each animal type, a functioning franchise mode and a slower time pace. I'm sorry if this comes across as rude or ungrateful or maybe I just had my expectations too high. But as excited as I was for the past months, that has just degraded in the past couple days. The beta had me worried, but I stayed hopeful but this is just... eh. I appreciate Frontier's attempt.

I get that you want more. we all and always want more XD But I wholeheartedly disagree with the statement that it's a SIMPLE thing that is missing. Nothing about these animals is simple. They are well animated and researched and a lot of time and effort has gone into each and every species in the game. Yes, the exhibit animals aren't quite as breathtaking, as the habitat animals, but still. There are a LOT of them.

Each animal has their own enrichments (yes, they do repeat for similar animals, but still they all have something to occupy them) they have their own requirements for the barriers, the soil, the landscape, the plants and so on. It's not a matter of copy and paste of some code and change some names around. Not the way Frontier has tackled the game and their animals.

I'm sure they have more in store. And yes, I expect for there to be DLCs and if they are decently priced and the overall game is running smoothly, I will be happy to drop more money at their lap for that, because despite my issues with some parts of the game or the fact, that it still seems to have plenty of bugs, it is an amzing piece of art that they have created.

I will be honest. I was also disappointed. because the game has escaped from popular genres. Destroy the African Rhinoceros in the game? I'm talking about a two-horned rhinoceros. I do not know. It feels like there's something missing. that is, I did not understand why the animals in the previous game did not exist from the beginning in this game.
I didn't like the animal balance, for example main game there are 3 species in elephants, but there are only 1 species in giraffes.
The animal roster of the game is enough. but I'm sorry when the animals in the previous game didn't exist in Planet Zoo. I think I was disappointed because of this. but I hope to see it with DLC ..

While this game has it's issues, 70 animals to start with is MORE than enough. You have to remember that the "planet" games are creative foot forward first, management sim wayyyy in second place. You also have to remember that Frontier LOVES it's DLC so they had to save room for the DLC of this game by including things like marine life, etc.
It's never a bad thing to want more.
