What other games are we all playing?

I was led to believe that if I import it to Steam later, it will launch the launcher only which is then inconvenient via Steam Link... I will look into it, as otherwise I can't wait. :)

Aye, you have to run the launcher to run the game. Even the direct game shortcut that R* creates on install won't work - it throws up an error saying "Please run Red Dead Redemption 2 from the Rockstar Launcher".

For Steam Link, I guess the advantage of waiting is that the process would be effectively automatic, because if it's anything like GTA V it'll run the launcher and automatically launch the game, directly from Steam. But you can just as easily add a non-Steam shortcut to the R* launcher and then click 'Play'.

It's up to you really. 🤷‍♀️

Well for this reason I'm leaning on buying it from Rockstar. Their launcher is just that, right? I'm not installing an entirely different store like the Epic store.

Does Rockstar do Black Friday sales? I rarely ever pay full price for games, especially when I already own them on a different platform.

Don't know about Black Friday sales, but aye, it's just a launcher. Really no more intrusive than ED's tbh.

You're the one being arrogant in the face of pretty clear and obvious facts.
The video demonstrates pretty clearly my argument.
I have gone to the trouble of providing examples of how the game holds up...you have provided...

...a load of hot wind and self-righteous crap.
Nothing more.

Also ironically enough...nothing you've said could be constrained as intelligent( not even your little quote there as that was just something a much, much smarter man than you said and you just repeated it)...so I wouldn't lean on that point if i was you.

So now you just look delusional as well as silly.

Good job.

Haha, after the third (?) personal attack in a row, it is me who is arrogant, allrighty. :)

And the very video you linked confirmed that animations are much stiffer in Witcher along with having worse lighting, shadows - which I clearly stated that to me are more important. You just don't understand basic sentences.

Most importantly, you just don't know when to stop - you look like a butthurt fanboy. :)

Yeah, that's my assumption too. If I could get around to actually initiate the game using the controller via Steam Link... Well, I do have KB+M for Steam Link too, so not exactly dealbreaker...

While I can wait, I can now clearly see myself taking a sudden decision. :)

Edit: Just spotted my mobo on the affected boards list, so I guess it makes sense to wait...

I'm not agreeing with criticism of TW3's looks. Not only was it visually stunning when it released, it remains one of the better looking games on the market. And when you get into the actual important parts-story, mechanics-it stands pretty damn tall. Anybody avoiding the game based on a superficial take of the opening section is missing out on a masterpiece.

I hear you loud and clear, and will give it more time.

I'm running the same board chipset... Asus Z-270 pro... from what I gather, it's roughly what you have...I had no issues apart from my firewall blocking it on launch initially. I simply created an exception for RDR2 in the firewall settings and it's been working fine since.

I'm running World Of Warplanes, and World Of Warships just fine on my present hardware. Wargaming can't afford to freeze out it's playerbase, with impossible demands for the hottest gaming boxes.

I'm getting all the combat action I want out of those two games right now. Simple, straightforward gaming. As I have maxed out to my "endgame" ships and aircraft, I need not invest any more "ARX' in those games. I just play for the simple fun of it. I don't care how many times I get shot down in my biplanes, or WW 1 ships. It's just a straight-up shooter, that I enjoy.

Forum friends, those who have told me if I didn't like Elite, to go someplace else, I have grave news for you. For many, there are many other places to have fun. Frontier needs to start delivering value.

MGV The Phantom Pain is a welcome return to increased difficulty after the candy land cake walk that is Assassin's Creed Odyssey, my last "open world" style game. I love Odyssey, but it really is too easy. Metal Gear's world is more drab, but seems more consequential to navigate, and the encounters can be orders of magnitude more difficult to handle. I got it years ago and enjoyed it for probably about half it's main story, but at the time I was going through a rather intense ED period where I could hardly get into any game that wasn't Elite and ultimately just shelved it where it's gathered dust in my library every since. Happy that I started it again because it really is a gem.

Warships is having a Battle Of Midway event. I have been binging my USS Omaha captain for participating. Only 30,000 more points to go, at 300 XP per battle to ramp up to the next ship.

BLAMMO! Big guns are such fun. :)

Disco Elysium.

I found out last night that it's possible to complete* the game in a few minutes. That was interesting.

*By "complete" I mean "utterly fail in a game-ending fashion"

Tried again last night. Hit game-ending failure even faster then the first time.

I think that this game hates me!

World of Warships, oddly, also replaced Elite for me as the 'permanent go-to' game. The devs are obviously not without flaws, but they do engage the community, do make changes based on feedback, and they keep the content updated and fresh despite the much narrower scope of the game.
I don't want to go deeper into this, but really it feels like Stockholm syndrome for those who defend FDev's attitude. Back in February I was already burnt out in Elite, but kept going because of the prospect of a major update - when their miserable forum post was published, that was it for me. And actually it was quite liberating to look around and get a fresh air of other games.

AC Odyssey was easy, but it is so awash of content that I didn't mind the continuous progression, it felt like picturesque journey.
As about Elite soaking up so much time and effort - yeah, just had the same thoughts above. :)

Does the Rockstar installer give you an option where to install RDR2? I'll need to put it on a separate drive when the day comes.

Also, does Steam let me spread out my games across multiple drives? If so, how?

Yes.

Again, yes. In Steam Settings -> Downloads, there's a button at the top called 'Steam Library Folders'.

You can add as many as you like across different drives, and have 1 as the default that you can override on each install. You can also move individual games from their Properties settings.

Excellent! Now if I get a nice big (say 1TB) drive on BF sale, then I might want to go ahead and move all games to that drive. I assume Steam facilitates moving that default folder, yes?

ps - I'm blown away at how SSD prices have fallen since I last checked (which admittedly was at least a year ago if not longer). And this with Trump tariffs!

Yes, it's very trivial to point steam to your new drive/folder. If you look around, you should be able to find the setting easily. I'm at work, so that's as detailed as I can get.

Frontier is as tone-deaf as 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and for many of the same reasons, including Twitter... :(
