Why do you think FD decided to forget about the DDF?

I like the idea of space-feet and would buy that DLC without any pre-reading since FDEV pass my personal taste quality test.

I just don't think its a certainty and won't get all sniffy if it never happens, since that's not what I buy space-ship flying games for.

Ah fair play, my error then. (Thought you were in the full 'over my dead body' camp ;))

Edit : unless it was locked 3rd person. But that's not a realistic prospect given their approach to the piloting postion.

Wasn't the plan in ages past.
Pryrios: When you say we will walk inside ships and stations, are you thinking in first person view or third person view over the shoulder? If it's third person view, are you planning on doing some character creator to make different characters for players?

David Braben: First person.
I'd suspect thrifty first-person only more likely.

Same thing you would gloat about while we all lost out I guess. Is that the kind of answer you are looking for?

You'd complain about your stock dividends, real-estate investments, and long-term out-look for metal ingots? That doesn't make any sense.

But then, I'm not much of the gloating type - more the dirty finger in the open wound type.

God no, I rarely bother with DLC speculation let alone have lines in the sand FDEV must not cross. To me its all just potential bonus stuff to my favourite game.

I would quite like to be able to rearrange the cockpit chairs as I like sitting centrally (dang FDL struts) and would have paid for that as a cosmetic (pre-freebies) but that's about as extreme as I get in terms of wanting specific things.

More space stuff or feet is good for me. I did once hear DBOBE say in some video that he thought Alien Isolation was a very well executed and atmospheric game, which bodes well for space feet if it does happen as that shows the sort of quality he considers admirable for sci-fi first person.

I didn't buy any of those things IndigoWyrd. I think you are trying to make a big deal out of a point of clarification. Golgot considers the LEP to be a gamble, others consider it a charitable donation.

What it is, is an additional payment for additional goods or services, my personal minimum standard for which is 'anything'. So far we have received 'nothing', and given the length of time since purchase I make the reasonable expectation to have received 'something' by now, but haven't. 'Something' was stated to be released by the end of 2018, but was delayed for up to 2 years shortly before the initial timescale came to an end, which I think is reasonable cause to offer customers a way to back out of it, because of the delay.

So you didn't receive exclusive access to the Cobra 4, Horizons at no additional cost, the guarantee to receive any future paid updates at no cost, a number of free cosmetic items last year, since Beyond was a free update for all players? That's how you define "nothing"? That's pretty interesting.

The Cobra MkIV was a Horizons pre-order thing. So were the additional skins provided at the time. The extra cosmetics provided at the end of 2018 were by way of an apology for the delay, the LEP excludes cosmetics to my knowledge.

The nothing I refer to would be anything non-cosmetic in addition to anything a customer that pre-ordered Horizons Beta would have received.

So you didn't receive exclusive access to the Cobra 4,

Not a LEP purchase - part of a pre-order reward - early buyer reward, for people who bought the base game and then horizons - or bought horizons early on. Nothing to do with the LEP. LEP buyers got it as thier purchase simply qualified for this reward.

Horizons at no additional cost,

No, actually. I bought the base game, then bought the LEP - with Horizons being the first (and only so far) in the "all future expansions" package the LEP is.

the guarantee to receive any future paid updates at no cost,

Yes, of which there have been none so far.

a number of free cosmetic items last year,

Yes... there is that, I do have to admit! You have got me there for sure!

since Beyond was a free update for all players? That's how you define "nothing"? That's pretty interesting.

Yes, Beyond was a free update for all players who owned any form of the game. Meaning, my LEP purchase was not a consideration, and if I had never bought it, I would still have recieved this, meaning I got nothing from the LEP purchase here.

So, yes, you are correct, we have been showered with the amazing ...er.. snowman bobble head, snowflake bobble head, and some... paint? of some kind? None of which was anything to do with buying "All future expansions"

120 British pounds sterling well spent right there. (so far - who knows, it could be if FD release like two more horizons level expansions....)

You have entirely defeated me with your well reasoned argument there. I must concede.

They are not following your internal roadmap.

So a lot of bellyaching about things that haven't even been produced yet... pretty typical behavior from the vocal LEPer colony here.

But let's assume here, for a minute, in a most adult manner, that the upcoming 4.x Not-A-Season release, slated to contain Fleet Carriers and Other Things, that had to be pushed back due to the sheer volume of nearly abusive posts following the less-than-stellar September update launch, in order to pacify the forums, is paid content, as has been suggested. If any of you LEPers do not receive this for free, I will rally to your cause. However, if you do receive it for free, I except each and every one of you to post a very public, non-Hollywood apology for being impatient, self-entitled brats around here, because you're leaving a bad taste in the mouths of normal players, and have been, for quite some time, with your tired rhetoric. Can we agree to this?

(Let's put aside fleet carriers as it's meant to be free and not part of a paid expansion)

I can agree to say I've received one paid expansion since getting the pass at that point.

I don't agree about the impatient part, nor the insults though.
Neither that I'm not a "normal player" because I bought the LEP.
I just have all the expansion packs pre-paid for, so would like some expansion packs to come out. It's been about 4 years now.

Anyway, this is probably going off topic now, I think there are places for this.

It's literally there on the point of sale and written into swathes of marketing material in firm declarative language.

Regarding future DLC a few quotes from before launch that may be of interest:

https://us2.campaign-archive.com/?u=dcbf6b86b4b0c7d1c21b73b1e&id=1824c0b05a

We have regularly said that depending on the level of success of Elite: Dangerous we intend to continue expanding it with new content and new features.

... will have access to all these features and updates for as long as we create them at no further cost.

This means that if we are as successful as we hope to be, you will still be benefiting from the fantastic early support you gave us for a long time to come.

The caveats (and risks for buyers) seem very clear. Having read that, I think the discussion is mixing up DDF topics with future DLC topics. On the latter as far as I can see FDEV have not only not confirmed any kind of cancellation on those original DLC plans (yet) but have also actually delivered part of them already with Horizons and have confirmed a new era aimed to be delivered late next year. Which seems consistent with the quotes above.
