What other games are we all playing?

Excellent! Now if I get a nice big (say 1TB) drive on BF sale, then I might want to go ahead and move all games to that drive. I assume Steam facilitates moving that default folder, yes?

Yep, you can set any of your folders as the 'default' from within that Library Folders dialog from settings. You can then go through each game and move them to any of the folders you've got set up, so you don't have to re-download.

PS. 1TB was "nice, big" in 2008... don't see any point in buying anything less than a 4TB these days for spindle drives. Even 2TB SSDs aren't that expensive these days... I just put one in my PS4. :)

For me, 1 TB is still "nice big". I was originally going to get just 500G! I don't collect a lot of games, because the games I play these days last me ages (I'm still playing Skyrim, LOL) and I have no problem uninstalling games when I'm finished with them - games like Tomb Raider that have a clear story with an ending.

I figure the two biggest games I'll have on this laptop will be RDR2 and MSFS 2020. Everything else I play is relatively small, storage-wise.

I'm running World Of Warplanes, and World Of Warships just fine on my present hardware. Wargaming can't afford to freeze out it's playerbase, with impossible demands for the hottest gaming boxes.

I'm getting all the combat action I want out of those two games right now. Simple, straightforward gaming. As I have maxed out to my "endgame" ships and aircraft, I need not invest any more "ARX' in those games. I just play for the simple fun of it. I don't care how many times I get shot down in my biplanes, or WW 1 ships. It's just a straight-up shooter, that I enjoy.

Forum friends, those who have told me if I didn't like Elite, to go someplace else, I have grave news for you. For many, there are many other places to have fun. Frontier needs to start delivering value.
Hi Ralph.
Wondering here, and completely unrelated to anything FD, what your take is on the "competition".
I have been an early WoT player, closed beta even if memory serves, so no stranger to wargaming.net here, and fond memories from thousands of battles fought.
Then at some point i got into Gajin's Warthunder, and found gameplay, presentation, UI and polish superior to WoT.
Of course both competitors now offer arena style gameplay for tanks, air and naval forces.
I never really got into the tanks part in WT, fully went planes, but what little i did looked more interesting than WoT too.
Not looking for a WoT vs. WT discussion, both are competent at what they do imo, but curious to learn if you've been to the "other side", where some say the grass is greener.:)

Still playing Space Engineers, bouncing between my main survival mode game and a separate creative save.

Nothing new here. Still playing Fortnite: Save the World when not playing ED. Also watching Doom Patrol on the side, can't believe I didn't notice they turned it into a TV series. On the up side, i get to binge it! Also started watching The Golden Compass series.

I was really bored, tonight, I was too lazy to set up the HOTAS and VR for Elite and I've just finished the Outer Worlds for the second time, yesterday, so I was feeling a little empty and up for something simple.

I checked the Origin Access and found out that a new NFS came out, so I installed it and...

...it's bloody good!
I have to preface this by saying that since NFS Underground 2 and Hot Pursuit I pretty much hated every NFS they came up with but they seem to have really nailed it with this new NFS Heat.
It's basically Underground 2. Back to the basics. Illegal racing at night and legal during the day, loads of cars, tuning and styling like in the old days. There's even a ton of stuff to customize your driver! I spent last 10 hours playing.

Really, really good. I wouldn't normally buy it if it wasn't in OA, but now that I've played a bit I even think it would be worth the money. Bravo, EA (I can't believe I'm saying this)

Nice. Now if only it wasn't on origin....

You got my attention when you said that its a first good NFS since Underground 2 (that one was a blast!), looks like I will be trying it out along with Jedi game on OAcces. I was sure its another flop like the last NFS games.

Regarding the OP: Yesterday, after watching Jimmy Broadbent finally "beating" Stefan Bellof's old record on the Nurburgring (6:11.13), I decided to start up Assetto Corsa that I hadn't been playing since I got ED. My old personal record was 6:48, and I managed to get down to 6:27. Still far from Bellof and Jimmy, but I had forgotten how much fun simracing in VR is, and how physically tiring it is doing 50 laps on the NBR with "realistic" force feedback. Heavy arms today! :)

Doing 6:11 is probably impossible for me, and it really puts into perspective, Bellof doing it in a real car, with real risk of getting hurt or killed.

Jimmy is the best driving sim YouTuber out there. His enthusiasm never fails to make my day.

Alternating between RDR2, Space Engineers and The Outer Worlds lately. Spent the last couple days or so playing Outer Worlds. Its corporate satire and dark sense of humor has been a slow burner. Made it a personal sandbox goal to play highly charismatic, stealth build PC with an ethically flexible disposition (and a lot of gray where areas of virtue are concerned). Goal is to pull off completing the MQ and all side quests with max reputation (not less than 98%) with all the major players. Without offending any of the minor corporate and independent NPC factions. My PC is really getting into the thickest of things doing espionage playing double agent with all factions atm. And making himself quite wealthy using a combination of persuasion/charisma, intimidation and extortion. Heck, he's yet to buy anything from any of the NPC vendors to date thanks to the generous five fingered discounts he keeps gifting himself with :ROFLMAO:

Arma 2 ai stuff for me of late..

In Space Engineers, it's good to build a ship in creative, let your mind go free.. ;)
Then put it into survival mode and run it. It can be quite a challenge if your ship is fairly high maintenance, like mine tend to come out (I don't scrimp on things).
Having to stop at asteroids etc for resources whilst avoiding getting set upon by pirates is pretty nerve racking. I like to find asteroids with large holes or caves, put the ship inside, if possible.

I love doing that, seeing how long I can run a high dependency ship from creative in survival mode.. :)

Interactive game features like being able to directly land and dock your space craft/hovercraft on asteroids. Or land your spacecraft on the asteroid and convert that into your base HQ. Then directly EVA from your ship onto the asteroids. The ability to access cave like interiors of asteroids. Using that as an emergent game play security feature to fortify yourself against potentially hostile NPCs. That's one of the coolest features in SE that ED lacks to date and could really benefit from IMO. That and the ability to manually mine the asteroid for needed ship O&M resources by EVA and using space legs. As another emergent game play alternative to using your orbiting/docked ship, surface based vehicle or hovercraft.

Tried War Thunder once, years ago. The realistic mode was just too brutal. So, I have no current experience on the comparison. Sorry.

All this talk about Space Engineers, with me having had it in my Steam Library since 2014, I finally decided to give it another go.

Three days later...

It may not look like much, but it's a good decent ok start. ;)

I took me forever, processing rock for the stuff I needed to make a primitive rover so I could go looking for ore deposits in the plain below the hill. After much trial and error (mostly error) I got my base's conveyor system set up. With a proper source of iron and a source of cobalt, I was finally able to upgrade from the basic refinery and assembler.

Next Step: installing some upgrade modules on the refinery, and prettying up my base. Fortunately for me, I found silver and gold while hunting for the iron and cobalt. :D
