Franchise mode

I must admit franchise mode is very entertaining. You can basicaly spent an eternity there, working on different parks in every biome/continent. However redoing mechanical research in every new park makes no sense to me. I understand the budget and the animal research because its based on having specific animal in your zoo. But what is the point of having a global franchise when you cant apply your knowing to the other parks? I hope the devs reconsider this mechanic in the future. What do you guys think?

Oh crap, you really have to redo all the research everytime?
Thats complete bullpoo, i guess i will stay with one zoo then.
I have no interest in building crap zoos until i have unlocked the style i want to then rebuild everything.
They could have call it "conservation point farm mode" instead of franchise mode.

That bothers me too, i would accept it for the animals but the designs should work Franchise wide, once researched you should be able to use them in all other Zoo´s

Having to research the animals again wouldnt be a problem (for me). But when you like to start your zoo in special way/special theme, you have to research it completely again. This takes time and money. When you start your new zoo money can be a problem, so at first you have to get your zoo going to get money for the research. And when you start building right to the entrance (like most people do), you have to delete/rebuild everything again to get your theme right there. So youre building parts of the zoo at the beginning which you know you will remove later.

This can be kinda annoying and is also the reason why my first exhibits look pretty loveless, cause i know i have to rework them later.

Agree. It makes no sense to do the mechanic research all over again for each new zoo. Takes forever just to get the one-way glass, let alone the rest of the items.

Highly puts me off making more than one franchise zoo (but maybe that's the point).

Yes, while this is complety fine for the first zoo, having to do this everytime make no sense in franchise mode and feels like leveling the tenth alt in an mmo.
Thats the point

Especially because having a franchise of zoos leads to the idea to give each one of them its own theme. One african/savanna-zoo, one asian zoo, one and so on. Its pretty annoying when you wanna make an asian zoo and have to build in a different way at first.

I agree as well. Research for mechanics should transfer. It doesn't make sense that you would suddenly not know any of the 'blueprints' for the buildings when opening more zoos. The animals I can understand because in reality certain vets could be more specialised at certain types of animals. So they would need 'training up' so to speak.

My first franchise zoo I treat as a management/profit/experimenting/learning oriented park. Now after one week of the game I would love to start building very specific themed parks (african savannah, northern indoor, tropical jungle) but the idea of starting again from almost zero just to start a managable economy terrifies me. I dont like sandbox, there is no challenge. So I really dont know in which direction to go. I secretly hoped for something like a meta achievement when if you unclock everything for one park, you can skip mechanics research in the next one).
Well frontier listened earlier about offline challenge mode, so hopefully they would not let us down with this issue. :) :)

I agree, it seems weird that one of your zoos cannot share its expertise with others in your franchise.

Perhaps if you've already researched something in one of your zoos, then you'd get a speed bonus in a new zoo? E.g. researching it again would only take 1/2 or 1/3 the usual time? You'd still have to decide what to research (your priorities) but it wouldn't be as mind-numbing the second time around.

Looks like even Reddit agrees:D :D

they way they said Franchise is meant to work is your mean to have multiple zoos around the world with different animals in them. Your not meant o have all animals in one zoo. Of course this is a little crappy as it means doing the research all over again so they need to fix this.

Yea i get it that it makes sense from a gamedesign point of view, that you don't unlock everything on the first zoo what is in the game and then
simply take it over.

But the zoo themes?
That really feels like a chore.
You should be at least able to choose one that you can take over to your new zoo completly unlocked.
Personally, as much fun it was to do it one time, i see no gameplay benefit in redoing all the mechanics stuff for every zoo in franchise mode.

It would be great to switch weather or at least daytime in franchise mode when the game is paused.

I dont like to buile when its dark and so i have to wait quite some time very often until i can pause the game to keep on building.

Did you figured out the "Game Torch" aka "Spotlight" feature by pressing "L" ?
Its not like daylight, but i find it very helpful and i am only mention it because it took me 40 game hours to figure
out that there is such a thing.

(When you skip the tutorials you get what you deserve i suppose 👻)
