How to change water temperature?

I've placed heaters/coolers both in and around water, but the water temperature won't change and it's affecting my animals Everytime they enter

I noticed that the temperature of water only changed once I put a cooler/heater on the surface of the water. I couldn't put them at the bottom of the lake etc..

Hi Toast,

Hold shift and move your mouse upward to bring it to the surface, or press X to gain more precise control over item placement.

Turning off the heatmap can help with visibility when it comes to placing objects and the toggle can be found in the bottom left corner or at the top of the screen where there's a cross icon.
