A Brief Treatise on the Importance of Careful Planning when Exploring the Galaxy.

Well yes, you do lose something, a slot. Going by the OP's signature, he could very well be in his DBX which would mean that slots would be at a premium :D
This, although I could have juggled modules sufficiently to get an AMFU in there.

Smiles - my exploration itch is fairly well scratched; I'm going to get back into shooting things for fun 'n profit. But next time the Black calls, I'll remember. :)

How the hell do people get their FSD to 53% ?!

That's like doing a Neutron Highway without AFMU xD

(on my current trip roughly maybe. 70000LY traveled - and both Hull and all onboard Systems still at 100%)

Whew - 10 jumps out now and the Universe is determined to keep me away from civilization.
Let's see...
The cat scored a successful strike and managed to unplug my keyboard. I have to admire her creativity.
At 14 jumps I was required to make dinner...
At 18 jumps the issue of a damaged washer involved investigation.

OK - 10 jumps. Hold on, Universe...just a little bit!

I so hope you are either in Solo or a PG :D

HOME

You go to the Black when the vast Darkness calls.
You leave behind strictures, leashes and walls.

Boost out of system, superluminal flight
A single life speck, alone in the night.

The Darkness hides secrets, wonders abound
Ancient dead landscapes, hostile cold ground.

A small frail machine is your only defence
The Milky Way Galaxy, indifferent - immense.

It kills without warning, it will crush, freeze and boil
Our only protection is caution and toil.

We go to the stars, we go to explore
We stand in God's face, we raise fists and roar:

"Just try to stop us! The Humans are here!
"We'll never be stopped! We don't bow to fear!

"You warn 'Judgement Day', well, your judgement is near!
"We'll find every secret that you hold so dear!

"You threaten with pitiful pictures of Hell
"But we've been there and back - you created us well!"

We stare on the face of the empty abyss
We smile at our playground that used to be myth.

We burn to the black, we'll never give in
'Till HELL freezes over we'll risk life and skin.

But after a while the lust to search fades
The mind turns to home, its mountains and glades.

The Darkness turns blacker, the ice moons turn dull
You worry about your equipment and hull.

The soft sights of Home, its lights and its smells
You have lots of data to bring back and sell.

Your nose turns for Home, the FSD screams
Your mind filled with city thoughts, restaurant dreams.

'Till one day you come to a civilized star
A station with Humans is not very far.

You contact Control, get clearance to land
The first Human voice is tired and bland.

But what of that? Enter and drift to the pad
You're Home again - happy, but just a bit sad.

Back in the rules but for now, you can rest
But the Blackness awaits, when your soul needs to quest.

Congratulations Commander, happy to hear you made it in one piece.

May your future journeys be full of undiscovered systems (and a nice shiny new AFMU :D)

In a hole in a rock there lived a hermit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hermit-hole, and that means go away, I'm trying to hermit here.

Flying tired and careless, especially when using a sub optimal pc and internet connection. Picture the situation, you're tired and really ought to go to bed but you push on to another system. You struggle to keep your eyes open. the jump seems to take forever. Next thing you know you've dropped into normal space because you got too close to the star you arrived at. Then in your haste to recover from the situation the heat rises rapidly and you cook your ship some more before you reach safety. Do that a few times in the course of a journey and it really starts to take it's toll.

That did happen a couple of times - other stupid mistakes too. I just a few minutes ago I smacked BBNW off a rock while canyon running - killed the shields and took my hull down to 20%. I limped to the repair dock with my tail between my legs lol.

Specifically though, that mainly results in hull damage (getting cooked, that is). In this case it was going hog-wild with the neutron stars on my journey out and back. Not a major issue (certainly not as bad as the mountain-shaped dent in by DBX's belly lol) but I'm certainly remembering the AFMU this time hehe. :D

Hmm... Ran out of Mats to resuppöy Heatsinks?

Life Support, Power Plant, Thrusters, cappuccino machine, on ! Everything else off, and squeeze a few more jumps out of your ship. If it ain't leaking don't sweat it!

Just had a thought would be cool if you could set priority for the cannibalization of modules to keep your core systems going, Cargo bay, Weapons, Sensors, HUD ... eventually your are flying around with just the jump pickle on the HUD, no sensors and managing your speed by the sound of your drives...?
