I suppose it could be argued that FDev are losing $249,000 in sales per year just to give something to the players for free but, let's face it, you'd have to be pretty naive to assume that was the "big picture".
That's kind of like adding up the cost of all the free samples Walmart gives away every year and concluding they must be a super-nice company to give away all that free stuff.

They do it because it generates sales in sufficient quantities to offset the cost of the freebies.

It's entirely likely that FDev have already done the math' for this, before re-jigging the prices, so that the store should generate an extra $250,000 each year, thus offsetting the revenue they lose from providing free Arx.

And good luck to 'em.
They're a business and their goal is to make money.


I suppose I should take this opportunity to say thanks to all the folks who are willing to pay an extra couple of quid for their paint-jobs, ship-kits and COVAS's so I can have my free 400 Arx each week though. (y)

I love how you quote my forum stats, as tho I've even considered them... Yet clam I'm seeking approval for an ego, while actually seeing my stats, which prove otherwise. It pains me to see you so salty about a post made by myself, due to you're own ignorance (even tho you have attempted to educate yourself). Someday, you will either understand me, or give up. You will see, tht whether you like it or not, I am part of the community... the part that is staying. So, either use your BLOCK feature, or join the satire club, and play with me!

Last time I checked my ARX amount was 260-ish. And how many weeks it's already been? I have counted: 14 weeks. So if FDEVs would give FREE money (per your logic), by now I would have...

14 weeks * 400 ARX = 5,600 ARX

I look at my ARX and it still says 260. Why? Because I EARNED them by doing in game stuff. It was simple trade. And trade means I do something and get something else in exchange. So I PAID for my ARX, didn't get them for free.

For free I get Cartel Coins in SWTOR. Whether I play or not, 500CC is added to my account every month. In ED I have to earn my ARX. If I play, I get ARX. If I don't play I don't get any. So please stop saying we get anything free since basic trade (your active time) for ARX is far from free.

Just my .2 Cr.

My only advice is, don't complain, learn how to farm your cap instead. There's a thread in the beginners section to go pick something that suits you. If you hit your cap every week its meaningful as a free option in case the big ticket bamboozling isn't working for you on the day.

I've always supposed that the amount of arxs that we earn are really for small things, like small decals or commander's glasses, that used to be free under the old system. It would take so long to earn enough arx's for a ship kit ( the most expensive thing on the store) that it's not worth grinding for that kit.

I actually agree. The current time required to save up for anything big, seems blatantly obvious that $$ was the motivation behind the baited hook. Although, this incentive, is actually portrayed in the OP.
