Just cleared my save

It's been getting a bit dull. I had my endgame ships and enough cash to give me a net worth of almost half a billion. So I decided to clear my save and start in one of the Pilots Federation system. Wow!! That was great. They actually had an evaluation (tutorial) before you were issued a license. Voice acted, too. I pretty much breezed through that but not too fast. I wanted to enjoy it, which I did.

For those who say, "Ugh!!! Clear my save? And lose all that progress?" It's not as bad as you think. Sure you lose all but 1k of cash and all your ships, but you have something they can't take away; all that experience. Yes, you were that bad when you first started. You didn't know any trade routes, how to find trade routes, heck, you didn't even know how to dock to a spinner. I had 400k before I left the starter systems and left in an Adder. And this was with just 3 or 4 hours of playing time. Since then, about 5 hours or so, I'm in a Cobra MkIII and have 500k cash and am well on the way to making that ship an iron a**. Elite Dangerous just got fun again.

As for how I made so much so quickly, I'll give you a hint. My Cobra MkIII is named Marie Curie. And that's all I'll say.

That's awesome!
I've restarted twice now; no-where near my current level; usually because I wanted a slightly different head-narrative. It's a ton of fun, starting over.

Oh - and Uranium pays well in the PF zone? ;) I'll remember that!

Cheers!

It's quite refreshing isn't it? Cleared my save a couple of weeks ago, flying my Python now 'Trinity'. Avoiding the 'big' three this time.

With this soul crashing amount of grind, i wouldn't even think about clearing my save.
Ranking federation, ranking empire, ranking exploration, ranking trading, ranking combat, unlocking and ranking all engineers, engineering modules, engineering ships, unlocking power play modules, unlocking power play weapons, unlocking all engineers, gathering all those materials, unlocking guardian weapons, unlocking guardian modules, unlocking guardian fighters, getting allied with hundreds of factions, ranking an npc to elite, unlocking colonia engineers.

No way..

Well if you wanted to do it just to be a new player for a day, download the Beta and reset there.

I fly in an Adder, Courier, DBS and FDS on a daily basis, because I love small and different medium ships. I'm so glad I didn't do any of those money spinners like rags to riches, void opal mining, hunting for elw's, rank grinding and other "shortcuts". Maybe I took me longer to get my first Corvette, but all in all it was worthy. A WELL DESERVED top tier ship after 18 months of honest gameplay since my start in December 2017. For example - in last month I bought my first T-9! Triple Elite Federal Admiral buys his first T9, lolwut! Since every void opal harmless hothead buys a T-9 just like they were T-6's. There is still a lot of room for me - iCutter, T10, Beluga, Crusader, and maybe reigniting the flame with disliked Anaconda and Fer de Strut.
This is how I play - slowly, exploring potentials of ALL ships. To be funnier... I bought Python about three months ago when I realized that FDS or Krait won't handle 180t outpost missions at once after my heavier involvement in BGS.
I'd not clear my save only discover ships I skipped, because I didn't skip any ship - from Adder to Fed.Cor. Clearing the save in my case would be my retirement from ED. End of story. Regrinding engineers, regrinding engineered weapons, regrinding powerplay modules. That is too much to repeat.

While not a bad idea, the initial buzz I found wears off only after a week or two. I did a soft reset (move entire fleet to Witchhead Nebula, buy ships with remaining credits, then suicidewinder back to bubble) only a few weeks ago, and after 2-3 weeks I had enough - without even having to go through engineers and naval rank grind again.

What worked for me in the end is to sell my entire fleet, keep key engineered modules, and stick to a small fleet of choice ships, including some I wouldn't normally fly all that much. Working a treat so far.

Still considering a full wipe next year, but have no such desire any longer for the time being.

GL to the OP though, happy they're enjoying the game again.

I got rich the old way, but to keep myself reasonably affluent I sometimes do deep core mining. Have some good ring and its like long time savings account, and mining there is kind of "withdrawal"....

DBS is fantastic. Took me through most of the early game.

Dont see why it still cant be used late game tho, small ships have many use cases. Maybe its time for me to engineer up a nice DBS...

CMDR Gavin786

I was in an FDL by the time it got released IIRC, so I only tried it on my second go.

Fantastic little bounty hunter.
