Since rather than being a mere reskin the idea behind the 1993 DLC is that of an alternate continuity, how will tech be handled? Is it also a rebalanc

Example 1: no mention of gyrospheres and paleobotany or the hybrids & improvements by Dr Wu. But I paid for 2 of these 3 things, and I don't think it's fair to cut them - it completely breaks balance. I can predict more than a few people will be "upset" if we're forced to give up Indominus rex and its camouflage to play as the 1993 option.

Example 2: fences reduced from 6 to 3, of which only 1 electrified. This is a welcome change but we will have to known which one is which.

Example 3: power station is now a geothermal station inspired by the TLW village which actually looks amazing BUT no mention of how energy efficient it will be.

Paleobotany was said not to be a thing by some Youtubers.

In any case I wouldn't expect any of the other DLC mechanics to be a part of the 1993 campaign. But I would definitely be disappointed if we cannot use these mechanics in 1993 challenge or sandbox modes.

I am not disagreeing about the idea of not being able to use paleobotany in 1993 campaign - but as you just said, if I can't use it in challenge or sandbox mode I'll be extremely irritated.

I am still on the Secrets of Dr. Wu DLC. I haven't gotten to the Claire's Sanctuary DLC yet. But from what I head the paleobotany is not very useful. I am not a big fan of Hybrids or the JW franchise so the lack of Indominus Rex even in a JP era sandbox game wouldn't bother me.

What we saw in the videos from the event was an early dev build. I am sure things have changed in the game since then. Especially when you consider that this dLC has basically been in development since JWE was released.

Paleobotany is actually quite a nice mechanic. It's completely optional. But it adds a layer of management and it can drastically increase the lifespan of the herbivores so it's actually very useful in the challenge mode in really big parks.

Your anecdotal experience doesn't match reality, necessarily.

Hopefully 1 geothermal plant powers an entire island. It's basically a limitless power supply.

Here's MY Big Question.... On our already Saved sandbox maps... Can we load them, and then switch to the 93 era?? If so will they auto swap all the buildings and attractions? I doubt it... But HOPEFULLY we can switch eras to gain access to the 93 buildings and then replace our JW buildings with the 93 ones. If not that's gonna kind of gonna suck for my JP builds in the current game. I'll never be able to put JP buildings in my JP build from before.

It's not. The plant has the same stats as a medium power plant. Which sounds lazy. Make it a middle ground between medium and large.

That sucks. What a bummer. It's nice that it's different and looks cool, but i dont want several of those things on the island taking up space.

I think it highly unlikely the campaign will rely on features brought in by other DLCs, but I would hope that challenge or sandbox mode in the JP era would have assets for dlc content like the greenhouse.

No one is arguing that the campaign should (could) be self-contained (then again, Claire's campaign DID feature some Dr Wu exclusive research). We have no confirmation about sandbox-challenge

It's not anecdotal. The paleobotany isn't that useful. This has been said by many people who also play the game. So I am sure they know what they are talking about.

If you are calling what I said about the game being an early dev build anecdotal then that is also wrong. What BIS and many other YouTubers were shown is an early dev build.

I also play the game and like me, many people who own it said it's a nice extra feature which adds a slight extra layer of complexity. So we're even.

I said this to everyone just as many times as you, if not more. Stop attributing to others your own delusions.

I'm not sure what you mean? Do you mean we should have an equivalent to the gyrosphere, paleobotany and advanced hybrids? If Frontier are being true to the era then these things wouldn't be present as they weren't in the original JP trilogy. The only thing I can really think of is it would have been nice to have the jungle boat tour instead of a gyrosphere (though I have a feeling this will be in a later update). Paleobotany? Only the dinos eating natural vegetation but being more prone to sickness would be a realistic equivalent to that. Hybrids is definitely a much more modern thing though so I'd just say no to that - unless we are counting the Spinosaurus as the first one? Only Carnotaurus on the Lost World novel could camouflage.

I'm pretty sure Frontier will adapt the challenge modes to allow the 93' era to not need these more modern features.

That's more or less what I mean, even if not quite simplistically.

By the same logic, then whenever playing in 1993 style we should only be getting 20 dinos rather than the 68 of the full game. Bit of stupid "coherence before reason" attitude.

Ellie Sattler is a damn good expert at paleobotany who immediately identified some plants as poisonous/extinct even in the movie. No reason she can't do the same.

Hybrids is definitely a much more modern thing though so I'd just say no to that

Then don't breed them. I want to be able to, however. After all, Henry Wu is the same guy.

Incorrect mindset. I paid for these features and I want to be able to use them. Besides, I like them.

I don't think it's stupid. I mean I get where you're coming from in terms of not wanting to be limited. But I'd prefer something more authentic. By you're logic of "don't breed hybrid's if you don't want them" I'd say go play JW era if you want more species & hybrids.

Yes I agree.

Henry Wu is the same guy, but at least 20 years younger.... though I understand you don't like the idea of being authentic to the time period if it means less features.

Incorrect mindset. I paid for these features and I want to be able to use them. Besides, I like them.

To be honest I don't think it's the incorrect mindset at all. Jurassic Park/World is Universal's IP and they would want any company representing it in other media to remain as authentic as possible to not tarnish aspects of the IP..... which surely is the reason for not including more modern features in the 93' era modes. I get where you're coming from that you think it's better to have more unlimited possibilities and that's where you feel you'd be getting better value for money. But at the same time I do though think it's unrealistic to expect so much of Frontier when they have limited resources.... they have to focus on the highest priorities and I'm pretty sure just having the 93' era release for xmas is what they were aiming for. I'm not saying this is right - just trying to help understand why some things are the way they are?

Yes, this is all fine and dandy but, at the end of the day, this is a game - its purpose is to entertain. If, as you say, Universal is being deliberately obtuse, forcing their idea down our throats without listening to us risks sinking this game since their vision is unfunny.

Dr Sattler is a paleobotanist... So considering she's in this dlc i would look for a 93 greenhouse variant in a later dlc. It would just make too much sense for her character to be involved in something like that. Maybe they'll add new meat feeders for Grant to introduce too. Frontier will definitely milk a small 93 add on dlc before we get something bigger.
