Zoo 'Closed for Maintenance' Feature

Edit:- Sorry, realise this should go under 'Suggestions' - I didn't realise there was one, dopey old me. Apologies lovely Moderator Persons.

Small suggestion really, but I've closed my Franchise zoo a couple of times now, so I can fix pathways, move habitats around, add better facilities and take the opportunity to clear up all the vandalised things. But obviously you're losing income if you do this.

Could this be incorporated into the game, where you are given a grace period - not unlike a marketing campaign or loan repayment, I guess - to close the zoo seasonal maintenance for a fixed amount of time? Or something?

It would be handy if, during this time, Franchise mode allowed you to change the day light/ weather settings, so you can see what you're doing when you edit your zoo. The game would then revert back to fixed daylight/weather when the maintenance ended.

I realise I can just shut my zoo and it doesn't make a whole heap of difference, but I thought it might have more meaning if it was incorporated as a game mechanic?

I like it. When you first start, and the money is tight, the zoo is tight too. I do that on a regularly base, and it cost me at least 200K each time.
My current Franchise zoo has a hundred bins, ugly as heck.

I have spent the last few days designing a new entrance area in an empty area of the park. Now I have closed the zoo to demolish my current entrance area and move the new one in its place. This feature would be soo amazing! It would be really nice if there was an option to close all the shops and rides automatically when closing the zoo, too.

By adjusting the opening and closing times you can play with the day/night sequence, so you can see your zoo during multiple stages off the day with ease.

bro, your negativity is uncool

Just ignore. ;)

I don't think this is working in Franchise mode at the moment then - I've definitely tried, knowing I can do this in Campaign/Sandbox - and the slider buttons are fixed and greyed out in my Zoo. I assumed this was working as intended?

I'm confident in my Franchise Zoo I was able to adjust opening hours through the Zoo menu.

How weird! I wonder if it's buggy then. When the game is back up I'll take a screenie. Unless I'm being completely dim and just not using the sliders properly, which is entirely possible. ^^

You do use the "openig times" in the Zoo menu?

I don't mean the the day/night cycle.

That's weird. Setting the opening time and closing time of the zoo to 00:00 makes it night time for me.

(ps. did you happen to make a blueprint recently? because adjusting the time there keeps it fixed. that's a bug).

Yes exactly - so I've tried to play around with the opening time sliders on the main zoo panel - where your staff/guest happiness is, and where you can see the fave animal in your zoo. But the sliders are greyed out and stuck at, I think, 04:00 to 23:00 or something? I can't see at the moment.

Weird, that must be a bug then indeed.

I added a couple of my own habitat blueprints aaaages ago, when I first started the zoo, but that was before the 1.0.3 update. But that could well be the issue, I guess.

My zoo closure idea seems less great now xD

i am a bit confused is it a feature or a bug? ^^
Well, I call it a feature, the buttons are greyed out now. And because otherwise I would sound too negative all the time. It's actually a feature, because we can enjoy the night in the zoo and after all, it's a challenge to build new habitats at night.

And no, I have never used blueprints.
