General HUD addition

I know this has come up several times but will you Dev's please add, somewhere near the throttle, an indicator showing weather the ship is in reverse or forward.
This would be very helpful in combat situations.....o7

What exactly do you want? Do you want an indicator that shows when you are going backwards, or an indicator that shows negative thrust?

That's why I was asking exactly what he wanted. The throttle indicates direction of travel and thrust level with the chevrons, but not negative thrust, unless it does so in FA off, I haven't tried that. In normal control you can have full negative thrust, that is be slowing down with 100% negative thrust but the chevrons still indicate forward until you reach zero velocity and start traveling backwards. So technically it doesn't indicate whether you are forward or reverse thrust, only whether you are traveling forward or backward.

Yes, if I am flying forward + speed, if I throw it into revers it wont show revers chevrons until ship gets to 0 speed then is actually flying backwards + speed then indicates revers chevrons.
So in combat if I'm switching from forward to revers constantly in theory I wont know what gear I'm in "so to speak"?
Is this correct?

The Chevrons don't show negative thrust, only direction, that's easy enough to confirm with a simple test. Set thrust 100% forward and watch the mps counter, then set thrust 100% reverse, as long as you are traveling in the same direction the chevrons will be pointing up, when the mps counter reaches zero and starts to climb again the chevrons will be pointing down.

As I said this behaviour may different in FA off where you can flip around and be traveling sternwards immediately without changing thrust. In that case thrust that was positive to your direction of travel is now negative to your direction of travel without actually touching the throttle. I don't do FA off so I can't test that.
