What causes animals to box themselves?

I've never had this problem before but the last couple days every 20 minutes or so I get a notice that several animals have been in boxes too long. Nothing has changed in their habitats. All tabs for the animals report 100% happiness. Why do they put themselves in boxes?

Have you built anything near them , often if you build near them or edit an item IE the climbing area they are on it boxes them , Occasionally as well the vet brings them back to the habitat and for some reason the game doesn't unbox them but drops them at the gate . Also if they get stuck on something it sometimes boxes them

Lot of different things seem to cause it.

Today I edited some terrain as I was planning out a distant section of my zoo for a Bear Mountain (large mountain with waterfalls around which I am going to build habitats for all the bear species). This area was at least 200 meters away from any existing habitat in my zoo, but when I finished I returned to the populated part of my zoo to find that every animal in 6 different habitats was boxed. This happens to me a lot when I do terrain work, though the shear number of affected animals in this case was a lot more than normal, so was the scope of the terrain work I did.

Other times animals nearby get boxed just when I'm working on a construction project in the vicinity of their habit. And other times it happens when I haven't done anything....always with climbers in that instance though, so I think sometimes climbing bugs out and it just boxes them.

Ok, I know what it is. Both habitats are kinda near an area I'm working on with a river. I have to keep taking the water out and putting it back as I'm working to ensure I'm not doing anything that will cause me not to have the desired water height. I didn't think they were all that close but it would explain it. I'll have to remember to just pause the zoo while draining and filling the river, perhaps they won't notice if they're sleeping :)

I think it has something to do with traversable Area. I've built a Grizzly-Enclosure where they live on a Island and a Rock-Bridge is leading down to it and they get boxed and unboxed a lot when they got delivered trough the Gate.
Yesterday I've built a small Aviary like Enclosure for Pangolins and I changed the Position of a Tree in the Enclosure and one of them immediately got boxed

Are they kittens? :D
Maybe they are Wolves

Yep, that will do it. I don't think I've ever not had at least some animals auto-boxed when working on water....even if no habitats are directly in the area I'm working, something somewhere in the zoo still gets boxed. I always pause when doing it, they still get boxed...but at least they aren't sitting in a box so long that they start to hate me.

Yup, I wasn't working anywhere near the habitats which is why I was confused - but the water I was draining and filling was sorta near them. I wouldn't call it that close, but I guess I might if I had a box to jump into :)

Hey all! We have an update on this:
Hey all! Thanks for your feedback on this. Just wanted to let you know that we're finalising an update right now which we aim to have out this week. This update will include automatic unboxing when an animal has been boxed by the game, but the unboxing will only happen when the animal is safe! Once this update has been released, please come back to this thread and continue giving your feedback on this issue! :)
