Time to abandon it

Nope, I did assume (hate that word but it is apt here) that you where only a sad little troll - and I was right :D

I'm not really sure how that makes me a troll, but if it made you feel better believing you are right about something, be my guest ^^
E: D is a nice game, but sadly pretty far off from what it could have been. So many ridiculous and bad design desicions ... Well, watching the funny threads here is more interesting to me than playing E: D like it is right now, so what's wrong about that ? ^^

Overly obsessive, you mean on yourself and this game, seems it is best thing that happen to your life.
Otherwise i don't see how can i be overly obsessive over game i played one hour in last year and check news once in a while.

It's funny watching WK brigade attacking above lol.
Get a life ladies!

You're starting to obsess about the people your ex video game is seeing now, I'd say its odd behaviour but its standard for the toxic 0.1% of gamers like you who make us all look bad.

After many years of play I think it's time to abandon it, in the end you realize that the game has too many limits that I hope will be introduced in the future, now everything is limited to grinding and making money and once you get the ship and build properly you have finished the game because everything only leads to making money and nothing else, everything brings you back to this.
For years people have been asking for storage in the stations for the materials and resources collected, being able to walk on the planets and build outposts, add a videochat directly in game with the group's participants, as they are doing on Star Citizen, an audio / video player, make the planets with realistic textures and not all the same with a single color pattern, there is no life in this game and maybe they will be limits of the engine, but I believe it is the lack of desire of the devs to improve the game by investing money, but obviously it is more important to sell skins, what is left to do in this game? jump from one system to another, farming, do missions to get only to make money, too little, there is no capital ship where you could invite party players, it would be more fun to be able to manage the entire ship, mining on foot and missions, I lost all interest, perhaps the new players have not yet understood but at a certain point yes and the money is of no use.
If you're in it just for money and the biggest ships, then yeah, it is time to abandon the game.

Me, I'm in it for flying in space and the journey thereof. You get to the point where you have the ships you want and enough cash you can do whatever you want (within the scope of the game) and it is time to clear your save and start fresh on a new journey.

I've done this on multiple occasions and it's never as hard starting over than when I first logged on in December '14. Of course back then It was 2 weeks before I could buy my Hauler and a full month after that before I had the scratch to upgrade to a Cobra Mk III. It's nowhere near as hard now, not even for raw newbies. And for us old experienced players, to say it's child's play is an exaggeration.

@OP once you have done all your grinding the only thing really left to do in any online game is PVP. PVP is the last dynamic frontier of content that is based on player interaction. It's the grind that keeps on giving.

In this game there was ADS style exploration. Where you went to get away from it all.

Sinse im in this thread, i think people need to get their expectations under control. Something that stands out to me. All efforts have been directed towards bug fixing, ok we know this. So whos making the 2020 content right now? Unless the dinosaur team is working on it in secret for the massive reveal.... then nothing is actually coming in 2020 either. And when that promise fails and there is no ice planets and no carriers and no legs and no 2020. EDs graphics look.. i dunno several generations old now. That lighting makes it look much worse aswell and with MS bringing out their sparkly new world in the flight sim it seems the standard has been set rather high for frontier.

There is nothing left here, just a snake oil salesman selling dreams that wont come true. We will see....

Fallout's rather fallen from grace in recent times.
I was referring to Fallout 1, 2, New Vegas and 3 (most begrudgingly). FO4 is a joke and the start of the true decline in innovative capital thanks to the coding monkey director running the franchise into the ground. I'm not even going to mention that fugly, b.a.s.t.a.r.d.ized online red head step child the coding monkey decided to permanently destroy the franchise with either. He was literally handed two of the oldest, best, beloved, and most successful single player RPG franchise titles in the gaming industry. And look at what that Village Idiot has managed to accomplish with despoiling them to date. RIP Fallout. RIP TES.

A quick dig through Frontier's company records would reveal that they have told no lies about the overall size of the dev team..

You, on the other hand, have come in and waved around some assumptions and facts you've fabricated to fit your view. Go play play NMS, troll.

Ok.. watch when it doesnt arrive. I told you so. Im not a troll and please dont throw personal insults at me.

If it doesn't arrive, it will almost certainly be due to yet another 'open letter' from the 'community' that fails to represent a whole swag of players. If it doesn't arrive, I'd be more inclined to blame a bunch of players for it - ex-players, I should say.

I'm guessing "swag" was supposed to be "swath".

I don't think FD are too terribly worried about the opinions of ex-players, but they do seem to weigh the opinions of "influencers", which is odd considering they're largely a reactive group.

Oh god i cant breath! wait a minute... ah ok. So its the communitys fault that frontier have a history of false promises? My word i think iv heard it all now. My hat is off to you sir :)

Maybe im wrong. I hope so, i want to be wrong. But if they let everybody down a thrid time, like christmas 2020 rolls round and for whtever reason there is nothing. I dunno kinda feels like they ought to refund people who bought the game cause they thought there was gonna be carriers and stuff. How far can you guys defend this before even you lot choke on it?

Well if i was wrong i was wrong but i was under the impression that was what had been announced. I must admit i dont keep up with current events. No need to be like that about it.

Edit: From steam: As mentioned in October, our upcoming updates will be almost exclusively focused on addressing recent and longstanding issues and bugs. The next update will be our first step as part of that - and it will be coming towards the end of January. So in light of this... whos working on 2020 again?

It's just a video game. I really like it and have played it extensively, still do. But if they pull the plug tomorrow then I've had a blast and it was money well spent, I'll also snap up any sequel (or DLC) FDEV make.

Just because you reacted to the FSS like this :

Doesn't mean everyone else did. I think its an absolutely great addition to the game.

Refund lol.

Thats not nice. I dont want to be baited into FSS talk in here, this is not the thread for it.

They are selling dreams and not delivering. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, fool me three times?

I started playing in July this year. I bought a functional game. Then the September Update landed and introduced a couple of smallish bugs - the mission screen one for example. No big deal, the bugs that I noticed were fixed fairly quickly - faster than some other devs. Then I was looking forward to the December Update, but no, that's not going to happen. I have to wait. Why? Because a very loud group of people (of undetermined size) wrote an 'open letter' and Frontier caved to their demands and the Update was delayed - leaving me as a player with no issues at this point wondering why I'd bought in..

The behaviours of some around here in regards to game features is also off putting. The insistence of some that Open is a hive of scum and villainy is also off putting, especially when, in my own experience, it's a load of rubbish. I've seen 1 ganker in the time I've been playing and he only killed me because I chose to try and fight him. The fact that there are ex-players who do nothing but moan about the game also isn't a positive - and says a lot about them. Going back to the ADS seems like a backward step to me and no one has been able to convince me otherwise - just a whole lot "I want it, make it happen."

From what I can see, FDev have been working pretty much to the 10 year roadmap I've seen around for Elite - until the recent 'community' demanded delay that is. There are some here who make all sorts of wild claims that could be verified or denied with some simple research. Why do it? Do you like looking foolish?

I guess as a newer player I come in here and see 2 basic groups of people. Those who play the game and enjoy it. They generally post in a way that is positive - even when delivering a negative message. Then there are those who claim to not play any more - all they seem to do is complain about deprecated features, bash the devs and attack any one who disagrees with them. One of these groups needs to move on.
