Fuel dump.

On my last trip, while making my way across the Abyss and trying to burn some fuel just to be able to make the jump to the next star, I was thinking about all these airliners flying around in Earth's atmosphere. I was thinking about one particular feature that I wanted to have on my Asp X so much at that time. Fuel dump. We can easily select and dump certain kind and certain amount of cargo, we should be able to dump fuel as well. Maybe we can have it as an optional, more expensive fuel tank? Or maybe some engineer could modify existing fuel system on our ships in exchange for some scrap? Either way I would greatly appreciate this possibility and I think there are many explorers and traders out there who would like it as well.

Managing your fuel vs Jump range is a skill. I don't have Max Fuel scoop so I can micromanage my jump range. Their other tricks are Jump to another system and back to dump fuel. Some people use Rail guns to lower weight and such.

Yes and the ability to shut off extra tanks or simply limit the fuel scoop to a certain amount and have route plotter actually take into acount what the set limit is.

I took a 160t fuel tank on my Corvette to beagle point and while this was great for crossing seas of brown dwarfs and doing consecutive neutron jumps there were many locations i could've just plottted through with half empty tank but the plotter doesn't take fuel weight into account so i had to make a whole bunch of jumps manually.
Not counting the synthesis boosted jumps of course

Ps since knowing your jumprange is critical to any pilot i think its silly this information is hidden in a side panel it should be right there on your fuelgauge next to your current fuel tonnage

This I have to agree. It should be near the Fuel gauge. In my setup when I use Tobbi eye tracker I should be able to look at the Fuel gauge and tell me how far I can jump. Or a key that someone can click and it will do the same.

Agreed! Simply replace the current fuel consumption rate with the jump range - it'd be far more useful.

Is there even a use-case for the fuel consumption rate that is currently shown?

I agree with OP, dumping fuel would indeed be nice (and risky).

Yes, I believe the Railgun with Plasma Slug experimental is the popular choice. It'd be better if one could just dump fuel without the workaround, though.
The Plasma Accelerator too has an experimental effect that drains from the tank, but it'll be a slow process. Besides, not many explorers drive around armed, or at least I don't.

Yeah, I know. I recently gathered a big stockpile of APAs and decided to test the feasibility of putting one with plasma slug on my exploration Phantom. With G5 Lightweight, the mass of the weapons wasn't a problem, but it would have required a bigger distributor than I am willing to mount. Railguns are available in small size, so I think people trying to use this option prefer them.

Plasma Slug (lightweight) ImpHammer is the best because every shot of the burst uses the same amount a single PA or Rail slug would drain.
