What does everyone else think of the 1.12 update soo far? And what needs to be improved?

I agree that tour paths should be crossable. But I fear it might be quite complex and cause lots of traffic jams.
I don't think a true mix and match mode would work very well since the two eras are so different and function differently. So here are a bunch of smaller things I think can be added or improved. Some of these are small new features while others are improvements on what's already here.
Though it has to be said that I really enjoy the new update and DLC. It adds a lot of great things.

Park tours suggestions
  • Crossable paths
  • Small bridges to go over water
  • The ability to switch direction the tour goes.
  • Being able to place fences over a track that turns into a gate automatically so we don't have to delete the track first and place the track over existing fences
Era suggestions
  • Allow JP signs and lights in JW era. These are not that dependent on the JP style.
  • Allow the full JP canon roster dinosaurs in JP era challenge mode because some are missing. Edmontosaurus and Troodon are canon to JP era.
  • Allow the dinosaurs that appeared in JPOG to be in JP era. (I don't even like JPOG but it makes sense to have them available since they are lore friendly already)
  • Allow the JW era fences and paths for JP era.
  • Allow large substations on JP era.
  • Allow palaeobotany on JP era.
Park management suggestions
  • Make the tiny decoration toilet into a functional toilet. It should probably only hold very few people and have a minimal impact on the restroom need. But it should have at least some impact.
  • Allow the opening of the doors on the raptor pen to let the raptors loose.

Some of these changes are pretty small (others a bit larger), but these would go a long way to make the whole game even more enjoyable than it already is.

Love the dlc. Most have pointed out the needed improvements.

Most importantly for this dlc and all game content: Let tour paths cross each other and let guest walking paths cross tour paths as well. This is really limiting the game and park design.

Zooming when placing signs for sure

Improve the Raptor Security Pen by allowing us to move them in and OUT of it. Let us open the loading gate as a selectable gate like other paddock gates. Give us a railing view where we can get a little closer to hear them better and maybe glimpse them through the foliage every now and then. Also allow for feeding and escapes if power goes out.

Give us access to the jw fences in the jp era as well and vice versa.

Adding the voltage signs n such to some of the fences

Add Shale to the nublar paints. I think i read it's only on sorna but i could be wrong i haven't checked yet

Give us a feeding mechanic in the aviary

Allow compys to not take up population slots for other dinosaurs

Rangers being eaten also

The beta used the jeeps on the tour track... An adapted version of this to work as a transport mechanism in place of monorail. I dont want a transport rating added, but just for aesthetics and to be more movie like... I'd like to make guests take a jeep from a heli pad to the visitor center. That'd be cool.

Ability in this dlc and all tours to switch between which side starts the tour and which side ends it.

Ability to make fixed straight tour paths like fences and guest paths and not just manipulate curved ones to get it straight.

A few more buildings like restaurant, jp viewer variant, some type of rides like a small kid coaster (bone shaker) or something

RICHARD KILEY TOUR. truly need this, need a voice actor and a unique JP tour version. Hearing the guide talk about gyrospheres is a bit out of place.

Tour narration should trigger based on passing a paddock sign! Especially since the dinos usually are too far away to trigger a tour guide narration about them.

Raptors climbing fences. 😀

Fix the tour trucks so the one in front says 04 and they're not both 05. That was kinda lazy frontier lol.

THIS

Especially the raptor pen items.

I liked mostly everything in Return to Jurassic Park.

Things I think could be improved or were different though?

1. The ability to mix and match buildings, decorations and dinosaurs from both Eras in creative mode. I think having JP and JW separated in challenge mode is perfectly fine. I also think that the JP buildings should be given their own tab in creative mode.

2. I think the campaign would have benefited from one more mission on Isla Sorna, maybe at the end after making Nublar into a successful park.

3. Dimorphoodons.

4. Ian's reputation gains need to be bigger. Most of his contracts are timed, which while usually the easiest of the contracts, does mean you're sitting there for 5-10 minutes, waiting for them to complete. I found that Cabot and Hammond's contracts raised their rep much quicker, because their contracts were easier to complete. Alan's were less easy, but supplementing the rep with Ian contracts made it doable. Sattler's contracts were the worst. Ian pretty much carried her rep about 80% of the way while I was sorting out my Alan reputation. I didn't get all my reputation rewards out of her until about an hour after I'd beat the campaign and 5 Star'd Nublar 1993. It would be helpful if maybe Ian contracts raised one of the reps at the same rate as they would normally get, while leaving the other at the level it currently is. That way you'd also get a little more choice, picking and choosing whether you want to gamble on the Ian contract or just get a for sure significant boost to the reputation you want to raise.

Also we need the goat feeder jp version to really be chained so we can release it and draw the rex over to the fence to eat it

I made my own version of jp on sandbox. I ended up putting the visitor center in the middel of the island like campaign. I have to say the tour was awesome! It took forever lol. But the only no shows i had were the rex, proceratosaurus, and the raptors. I even glimpsed a compy once and you could see a pteranadon flying in the aviary when the tour passed it. So awesome!

I also had a raptor escape somehow. I guess it was a glitch or it ran out of a gate when resupplying the feeder? I'll be looking into this. I have compys in every herbivore paddock. You get amazing views if you select them and they're near a brachiasaurus fyi. ☺

That's not needed at all. We have the meat feeder for this already.

We need it lol

as I said a couple times at least, I would love full dinosaur roster in challenge mode. However, I want absolutely full TECHNOLOGY roster in challenge mode for JP era, and I think that JP buildings need to be revamped (discussion found here).

Built my 2nd jp replica... This time i added stegosaurus to the plains and lake area. I confirmed the tour vehicles can take damage lol. I was viewing from the 2nd car when a stego flipped the 1st car over on It's side. It's hood was pushed in and the drivers side mirror was knocked down. Looked great. But strangely it didnt repair itself once it got back to the tour station. It just went out again still damaged. I guess they have to be disabled before they can be repaired/restored.

these are all good ideas, but my biggest problem with it right now is that the 1993 Challenge mode is limited to the Dinos from the 1993 campaign. I understand limiting the campaign for story reasons, but All dinos are allowed in sandbox, so why not challenge mode? Personally, as someone who paid for all of the DLC, I want to be able to use everything I paid for, even if it isn't "canonical" to the 1993 era setting.
