Please don't make this critical mistake with DLC animals in Franchise Mode

In Franchise Mode, we have experienced quite a shortage in the availability of the Deluxe Edition animal species since these are not available to every player. My concern is that this will continue to get worse as you introduce more DLC packs that include animals. I implore you to supplement these species in the Animal Market with Frontier Zoo options at a higher rate than base-game animals to compensate for the fact that they will not be owned by every player. Let's address this proactively before it becomes an issue. Thanks for consideration.

Didn't think about that one.. Last couple of times I bought Deluxe animals there were plenty but i see your point..

I don't mind paying $25.000 for Frontier Deluxe animals, if the normal $-animals are 2k..

It's the Thomson's Gazelle that I had major issues with. So much so, that their enclosure is often empty. The problem is that most players keep their females that reach maturity, and only buy & sell males. I would sell my males and then be unable to buy replacements for lack of availability. I suspect this problem would persist with caribou, and be worse with polar bears.

I think this phenomenon is a general issue of the trade market because it’s a pain in the you-know-where to individually place all the animals in the market, particularly those with a low CC value of which you often have a lot to sell, where you’re much better off releasing them all at once.

I had a large herd of thompson gazelles and they procreated so happily that I constantly had to manage the herd size. I simply couldn’t be bothered to place either the male or any of the females in the trade center. I felt bad because I also depended on other players selling new males. But with everything else to take care of... Nowadays, I generally don’t bother to sell animals in the trade center any more unless they have particularly good stats and I want to help somebody breeding them. But managing a full zoo does not really allow you the time to sell individual animals.

I find shortages with practically all animals with the exception of the well-known starter animals like ostriches or peafowl. All species with a single male and numerous females are problematic. It seems to me that Frontier has started to put more of their animals on the market than before, but they are also often snatched up fast. And for some species like giant pandas, Frontier’s animals have no worse or even better stats than some of the aninals sold for thousands of CC.

I think we need a better selling system for our animals to make the market function better. Maybe allowing us to send all selected animals automatically straight to the market at the recommended price and if these animals don’t sell within the hour, automaticllay release them to the wild.

Honestly, the 30 storage limit is half the issue: I don't want to place zebra, T gazelles, etc, on the trade center because they're going to block my storage and prevent me from purchasing anything. The other issue is the 1 hour duration - far too short to keep animals listed once you log off.

If we had say...250 storage spaces and the auctions lasted for at least 8 hours, I'd be far more inclined to list my animals. Until then I'll just be wild releasing anything I'm not keeping to breed/perfect stats. I can't manage to keep my own animals in 30 slots without using spare storage zoos, I certainly can't afford to waste slots holding animals for other people to buy them.

Obviously, this applies to all the animals though, not just DLC species.

One of the main problems with the deluxe animals is that you cannot filter them - apart from the species filter, of course. As soon as you select a certain gender, rating or stat such as "size gene", the servers will respond with "No animals on the market". Sometimes it doesn't even work when you just change the sorting of the animal list.

After removing all these filters, there are quite a few animals on the market, including Thomson's.

I'm actually hoping the ability to slow down time might have a positive impact on the market. Yes time will be moving slower but with everybody able to play at a pace which suits them and the size of their current zoo they might feel that the effort of listing rather than releasing to the wild is less of an issue because you won't have 16 other things to deal with

I do the same. The animals that have bad stats go into the wild and I sell the better ones on the market. Always making sure I go under the price because I genuinely want to help others have access to animals.

What I'm most surprised is with shortages of certain animals that you wouldn't think there would be. Like bongos for example. The last time I checked there were 2 pages and that was it which is interesting because they breed easy and you can have 2 females.

I think my concern with the putting animals on the market is the following:
1- takes up storage space

2- you have to wait an hour and if no one buys you have to keep reposting the animal, when they could have been gone already if released to the wild.

3- biggest problem once the animal goes in your trade center the release to the wild value goes down pretty significantly. For example my cheetah originally priced to release to the wild at 1140 when placed in the trade center that price went down to 839 to release to the wild. So if no one buys I just outed myself a few hundred CC.

Now this might explain some of the issues I've experienced when trying to buy Thomson's.

if no one puts animals on the market, there would be no animals to buy for everyone and that mode would be dead.

Franchise constantly adds animals in the market. That’s how the game started after all. If necessary, they can always adjust the number of animals offered, and based on my impression, they already do at least for some species. Maybe there even has been an algorithm for that in place from the start.

Frontier just needs to streamline the selling of animals in the market.

i am aware how the whole system works. i think frontier did a pretty job overall.

but my comment meant: if no one sells (for whatever reason) and you would have to rely on only frontier animals, then you can play challenge mode or sandbox.
