Devs why can we not change squadron options/alignment and other options?

Devs of Frontier! Why are the squadron options a bit limited and cannot be changed once submitted? My squadron is thinking of changing the primary minor faction they support and our superpower alignment (lore/story reason)... we want to change from a Federation supporting squadron to Independent. There are no options to change this nor can you opt to change Powerplay person. I emailed support and they told me you have to make a new squadron... please come on guys! I mean my squadron has 20-25 members that's annoying having to re-invite 25 people but what if any of the much bigger squadrons did this?

Now I know I can support any minor faction I like and work for whoever but I thought the purpose of squadron UI was to allow this to be much more user friendly and help player groups. Squadrons are there to coordinate multiplayer activity.

Seems that squadrons need a few improvements.

Not really a helpful answer but seems to defeat a huge point of squadrons as we're meant to have tools to coordinate a manage player groups and objectives. GroG79 I've gone back to support and messaged Frontier too as I cannot be the only one who runs a squadron that wants to change options

Maybe it's a similar situation to Power Play Pledges & FDev wanted to discourage frequent changing.

But implemented... differently. I don't know why it was done the way it was either, the squadron I'm in supports lots of factions.

This is a feature I feel needs work and it's very annoying that you cannot change the minor faction you are supporting. From a powerplay perspective my squadron of 10 people was pledged to Hudson but we wanted to work for the other Feds and part of our story. I don't see why changing or removing these is an issue its just a information and status display at the end of the day.

Why should any decision you make have consequences?

If you picked the wrong politics, abandon your squadron and start a new one.

So you're saying it's fine to make a new squadron then have to go through my friends list of 20-25 commanders and reinvite them lol? Come on! that shouldn't even be a thing. The point of squadrons was to give us a tool to manage and coordinate our actions in game. Our actions in game, story and lore dictate that commanders and groups are going to change ideology and game play style. All I'm asking is for a few buttons to change the status and information bit of the tool. It in no way impacts background sim it's just a UI and link to displayable data. Even from an Elite Dangerous story point of view galactic politics is going to show groups changing superpower allegiance this stuff happens in the GalNet news feed... from a powerplay point of view many commanders feel the need to hop between powers due to the unlocks you get.

Because it's added manually to the background sim. Frontier should add an in-game option so that people can change it.

I had a small squadron with friends only five of us but it was far easier to use the squadron area to quickly check powerplay stats. Being we support the Empire and hate the Federation we decided we would switch between powers but there are no options so L-Duval is forever on the front page of squadrons. If Frontier wanted us to stick to certain powers, take on certain careers or be loyal and not chop and change factions n powers they wouldn't have put certain unlocks undercertain powers OR forced you to have a combat ship, mining ship, trade ship and exploration ship for engineering.

You want to unlock top tier shields or weapons you MUST change powerplay power support. You are an explorer but you want better jump range, lighter weight components and more heatsinks no problem just build a mining ship to go with your combat ship... EHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEHEHEHE

Play anyway you want go anywhere you want... NOPE SORRY!

I'm well aware minor factions are added manually... the squadron bit is just a management UI for groups it doesn't effect BGS in anyway it just displays details of things like reputation, influence and tells commanders which faction to support... it's just there's no options to change this once it's locked in.

My point is I've had a minor faction added but that minor faction is no longer relevant. My squadron has broken away from the Federation we don't want to support a Federation power or faction.

Ignore. Hes trying to bait you. You're just going to end up locked out of your own thread by mods

that be like a Democrat couldn't one day decided he wanted to vote Republican or just be Republican in general or liberal or move out of the country. in reality people change their minds quite frequently I'm not seeing why it would be such a problem to do in a video game.

Suppose the power you thought you supported turned out to be a bunch of jerks. You should have any and all right to choose to support a different power

Thats the wrong analogy. Any member can leave to join another squad. A squad is politically aligned. You want to align 'The Aisling Virginity Keepers' with Yuri Gromm on a whim?
