Stealth buff to mat capacity?

So I logged off yesterday and polonium had a maximum capacity of 100... now its 150?
Is my game bugging out or did certain mats get their capacity buffed?
anybody else notice any other changes?

The raw materials were mucked about with a while ago (when they introduced lead, boron and rhenium) - there are no G5 raw materials now so Po is G4 which has a storage capacity of 150.

(There is a bug where some raw materials have incorrect grade graphic in the UI display.)

So selenium should be able to be found in the volcanic needle things now?
and I mean this change happened overnight so are you sure it wasn't something different?

I don't know about the needle thing.

A quick quote from the Wiki:

Lead is a Raw Material added by Beyond - Chapter One (3.0).
Boron is a Raw Material added by Beyond - Chapter One (3.0).
Rhenium is a raw material added by Beyond - Chapter One (3.0).

So that is when the G5 raw materials were abolished.

I just got back from my raw-mat fillup zone - Antimony is available from Crystal Shards, Selenium is not..at least, I haven't found it.
:)
Sounds like those systems about 1.5 Kylies corewards. Spent a week there back in May.
Maxed out all my G4 raw mats except Selenium.

I often wonder about that region.

Like was it put in as a Dev short cut, and got discovered or is it a genuine artefact of Stellar Forge.?

If you don’t know what we’re alking about, look me up on INARA - I did a logbook entry with the details.

They can just give themselves anything with "dev magic". Crystal clusters are specifically created POI, their placement might be random but their appearance surely isn't. It was probably a response to the "grind" moan, same way the free money from mining is.

I usually collect SELENIUM at HIP 21991 1 ring A. Quantity isn't good; 3~5 pieces in an hour, but I can earn extra credits with a lot of Painite. HIP 21991 is one of popular double-hotspots of Painite mining.

You have to relog once after you get at least one unit of Rank 4 mat to see its capacity risen from 100 to 150. Looks like they bumped the capacity at some point but not in all places where it matters. Best place to notice it is crystal shards if you haven't encountered the material yet in the wild. I believe trading up does not count.

Selenium is a special case (possibly bugged).
At Geological Sites, seek Crystalline Fragments to attain it.
Those normally hold only G2 Elements but after the change, Selenium somehow went into that bucket as well.

Needle Crystals typically only hold G4 (old scheme : G5) Elements - with the exception of Selenium for above reason.

Selenium was a G2 mat before it got regraded to fit the mat traders. It's a G4 mat in name only. This is why you can pick up Selenium by the bucketload on planets. it's handy to trade for other stuff.

Yes, as peeps have stated already, FD messed around with and messed up, the raw material grading. Selenium is a g2 in a g4 position at the trader for absolutely no good reason. It cannot be obtained from g4 sources (needle crystals/crystalline shards), but it can still be obtained from any G2 source (primarily Crystalline fragments at volcanic sites and mesosiderites under the old planetary prospecting model).

Since we're sharing I actually enjoy my selenium method. I go to Prthi 2A and get in the SRV, make like Ken Block and shoot every rock I see. In about an hour I've collected over 100 selenium usually. Favour mesosiderites as they are the primary g2 source, but any rock can contain selenium on prthi 2a, it also seems to have quite a few metallic meteorite spawns which will give you a lot of extra antimony while you farm your selenium.

Another option that works well is just find any rock with volcanism and decent selenium % that has lots of geo sites. Just go visit them all until you are full. Bonus points if you pick a rock with a G4 you also want, as you'll get some of them at the same time.

Hm...If you hit every rock at the geo site, sure...Thing is if I go geo for Selenium, I'm only hitting Crystalline fragments, to also hit the needle crystals will slow down my selenium farming, but if you need both elements, sure, it's one way to go. The usual case for us minmaxers is that we fill up all the other g4s at the shard sites anyway, so Selenium is kinda left over, hence I needed to find a way to farm it that didn't make me want to stab myself in the eyeballs with a rusty kipper. Prthi 2A is nice and flat, so I just practice getting up to high 'jumping' speeds while chasing mesos. Works for me :)

It's a bug. The first time you collect any raw mat your limit is 100. When you relog it will reset to the correct value.

Ahh, thanks. I never saw that myself; first time I tried stocking up on mats mine went to 150 without any need to relog - I guess I'd somehow met the requirements for the increased volume.
