Recommended HOTAS for VR

Harada
Thanks...looks interesting.
Probably the 'kiss of death' saying this, but after two years the t16000m joystick is still fine.
At the price point, I also like the tm16000m hotas throttle, other than the sticky throttle mechanism. Very good for VR to have so many buttons/hats at your fingertips.

EvilMadcat.... I guess you must be a 'touch typist' to use a keyboard blind in VR. I have tried but struggle mightly, with sometimes amusing results.

i also use the X52 pro. along with it many many buttons you can set them up with three modes full of configs.i only use the 1 mode thou.

I use a Warthog Stick and Throttle and use the Aussiedroid script for Thrustmaster F.A.S.T. software

It's brilliant and you can map the yaw to the slew control on the throttle if you don't want to get rudders.

I use the Thrustmaster Warthog throttle and stick as well. I have switched from the default stick to the lately released F-18 configuration as i like the button layout of the new stick much better. In addition to that, i use the Thrustmaster Cougar MFDs. 5 buttons in a row are easy to memorize, so they are excellent to use without looking.

Not only that, the X52 is what the stick and throttle in the cockpits are actually modeled after. So when you see your hands in game, they are matching your hands in real life quite nicely giving VR even more immersion!

Question about that since my stick is getting a bit worn in places (I bought it in 2013 when Elite was announced). Where has the index finger button on the warthog been moved to? Aussiedroids scripts are so good I'd be loathe to lose any major options when mapped to the Warthog stick.

That would be button 5, if i am correct. On the F/A-18 stick, it is located slightly left under the right 8-way hat. Has a good click and is reachable by thumb.

Have you had your money's worth out of the T16000 throttle? If so then just buy another as they are relatively cheap. You can pretty much fix the slider stickiness using the PTFE sheet mod I describe in this thread:

I ended up using Finish Line DRY Teflon Bicycle Chain Lube. worked well to get rid of the stick, just put it on the two metal bars and run it back and run it back and forth a few times.

Yeah, I'd love for them to implement several models so that you can match your HOTAS / HASAS in VR. I imagine it should be relatively easy and would definitely improve immersion for us non-X52 folks.

I've had the Saitek/Madcatz X55, plenty of buttons and good stick, but the throttle broke after two years. Bad and tiny wiring was the primary issue, I hope Logitech has fixed that problem with the X56. Now I have an X52 pro (Saitek one, sadly), it has the same problem, showing out after 2y. The worst thing is that the stick is attached to the throttle (it doesn't have an USB connector but a serial one), so you can't change only the throttle. I wish I have kept my old X55 stick.
