First Expedition

Greetings and merry christmas my fellow commanders.

After a long hiatus I'm back in the pilotseat and finished my first dedicated expedition.
I was locked on the Black Treasure and I want to share some impressions with you.
That's my trusty Cobra MK. "Old"

The first glimpse of blue. You can guess I'm a happy bowman there

Only a couple of jumps to go.

The final jump, FrameShiftDrive charging, 4...3...2...1...engage!

😲 A Black Hole! My very first black hole!
and..a planet? Interesting!

Seems like a blue hole to me 😇 I don't have a closer view unfortunately for I don't know how dangerous black holes can be and I didn't fancy the risk of going down the drain
I erred on the side of caution and kept my distance.

Time passed and it was time to leave again.
this time roughly heading towards what I dubbed "The great Chandelier"

Of course as the saying goes "No good deed goes unpunished" I pulled an icarus a couple jumps later, fortunately the main was a hot fart so only some minor damage suffered.
Somehow I ended on a walkabout doing shortrange jumps left, right and centre discovered a couple of water-worlds and eventualy found my first Earthlike

Yeah I suffered a sudden rush of void to the brain and forgot to take pictures 🤪🥴

Couple of jumps later with nothing outstanding but nontheless nice vistas to see

Some system later I fired up the FSS and lo and behold! two Noteable Stellar Phenoma Signals tuned in.
Wha...what is this? I asked myself. Never came across these before. Curious I brought my schields back online and approached.

What is this?

Who and what! are you??

crystaline structures and mollusc thingies inside nebulae? wow! now thats remarkable!
I'm curious to see what else is out there. Unfortunately I don't carry a beach buggy so no planetary expeditions for me till I get back to the bubble to refit.

Thats it for now.
Fly safe and happy holidays to you out there.

Welcome back, CMDR!

Those shots are absolutely gorgeous! I'm definitely adding this system to my list of places to go and things to see. And thank you for the jargon link. I'll try to adopt it as I like the role playing aspect of the game.

I've only just started exploration, and have been to XA then about halfway to Beagle before turning towards Colonia. I swapped between doing runs of Icarus Jumps based on the Neutron Router and doing runs of jumps calculated by the computer. I figured if I'm heading to Beagle, I might as well hit Oevasy SG-Y d0 while I'm at it, but I had no idea that Jumponium was a thing and also didn't plan on reloading my AFMU, so I didn't have the mats for either.

When I started out, I was locked on Saga and got there without any issues - but, not knowing any better, I saw "The Centre" and figured "Oh. I'll head there." Once I started taking heat damage and realized I was about to lose about 150M CR in data, I turned back and headed for XA.

I got to plant a flag on two ELWs and bagged and tagged a lot of systems. I took a beach buggy, but never used it. I took it because a lot of threads said that was what you're 'supposed' to do. Trying to farm mats for engineering in Colonia, I've figured out how to use EDDB to find bodies that have the elements I would need while exploring, so I plan on using it the time out.

I did all of this in an somewhat-engineered Flying Squirrel (I so love this moniker for the AspX and will use it from now on), but I've swapped it out for a DBX in Colonia and will head Solward in it after I pin a couple of blueprints from the engineers out here. I'm trying to get it as fully engineered as possible in preparation for the Perseus Reach Expedition. I plan on ratting it out in case someone on the expedition runs into problems. I should end up with a laden jump range of about 66ly.

Fly safe and Merry Christmas!

Thank you TheWonko.

Haha that was a good read. Had me grinning like a dumbfire all the way 🤣😜
Oh glad you got away at Saga. One day I will visit it.
Hm I have no idea what Colonia is. Did saw the name mentioned a few times but didn't bother to pay closer attention.
Engineers? heard of them. Think I have some tasks at hand when I go back to the "civilized" lands^^

66Ly...laden... hot damn that's quite the impressive number. I have ~25ish unladen but it's ok for an MK."Old" Cobra like mine.🤗

As for the molluscs and crystals, the codex states that they're found in nebulae but honestly I have no Idea. I didn' even knew what to expect at all at the sites.
But I'm glad I investigated them 🤩😁

I'm not sure if I should tell you this, as it kind of ruined the experience for me, but when it comes to black holes:
you can stop worrying. They are absolutely harmless

harmless?.. well I guess they need to level up their rank to at least dangerous 🤣
On another note I would guess it could be difficult for fdev to balance such monsters.
But nice to know. That means I can take better pictures the next time I come across a BH.

Thanks and merry christmas o7
