Best way to increase Trade rank

Yes I'm a noob. Been playing 2 weeks. Have an Anaconda and 300million credits. Trade rank Tycoon 71%. I am doing Fed rank delivery missions and mining void opals. My trade rank wont go up past 71%. What do I need to do? I read that you need 1 billion credits? So my balance needs to be 1 billion credits?

You need to make total profits of a billion, assuming that's still the threshold - I got trade elite ages ago so I have no idea if it's changed since then. As noted above, painite mining in a double painite hotspot will almost certainly be the fastest way to do it these days because your whole selling price is profit. Same for void opals obviously but the painite should be faster.

There's no specific benefit to having trade elite though, or any other Elite rank, other than getting access to founder's world (Shinrarta Dezhra system) which gives a discount on ships and modules and sells every module in the game. At the risk of sounding like one of those tedious 'I remember when all this was fields' bores, it took me getting on for a year to get an Anaconda when I started playing four years ago and I didn't get an Elite rank until after that. Play the game how you like but if you just try to burn your way through everything inside a month, just be aware that your gameplay from that point onwards won't have any kind of structure other than that which you impose on yourself.

Yeah, it is still around a billion. Just keep it in mind that it is not your total balance that matters but how much of it you actually earned by trading. If you made some money doing bounty hunting, exploration or something else it wouldn't count towards your trading rank so you have to make 1 billion by trading alone.

Well, you also get access to higher ranked missions.

Unless they changed it back again (I've been out exploring for a year other than a brief stopover at Colonia and the bubble, so haven't been hitting the mission boards) there hasn't been a rank lock on missions for ages. They still show a rank but it's not a requirement, just an indication of the likely difficulty. Your reputation with a minor faction will lock you out of missions if it's not high enough, but your trade/exploration/combat rank won't.

Oh really? I didn't know they changed that.

Yea, that is true. You can take any difficulty level mission if you brave enough. As far as trading and other ranks going, I think combat rank is the only one that affects your gameplay somewhat since your NPC opponent's level goes up with your combat rank increase and at some point you have to deal with tougher NPC pirates and such. Trading rank on the other hand doesn't give you any particular advantages in anything except for being the easiest and fastest way to get Founders access so you can go there and get ganked in the hurry by the squadron of invincible Anacondas moving around faster then your engineered for racing Eagle. 😝

Deep core mining.

I did that to fund my Exploration Anaconda and watched my trade rank jump up several levels over the three weeks or so I was doing it. Takes a bit of practice to hit the sweet spot with the amount of seismic charges but the profitses are huge.

After that, doing CG's that involve material supply but that works best if you have a fairly big cargo ship with a decent jump range so you can seek the required assets further afield.

I'm one of the Premium Beta owners and that came in with Founders World Permit. Was always wondering what really is the benefit of Elite rank?
As someone who has the access to Shinrarta Dezhra from day one never actually felt the need to reach any Elite rank.
Aren't the NPC's attacking you tied up to your combat rank?

Agree with everyone above, Deep Core mining for void opals will get you the biggest profit with a full cargo, just make sure you use EDDB to find a station which gives you the big bucks, otherwise find a spot for dual Painite farming if looking for cores is boring you, i just watch some videos on my phone while my limpets collect the materials from the roids

Since the only time I tend to get attacked by NPCs now is when I do missions and I'm triple Elite, I can't tell any more whether it's my rank or the mission rating that determines the NPC rank.

I'd assumed it was based on the required rank for the mission but that your combat rank acted as an modifier, so if you took a low rank mission and are actually a low rank yourself you'd get low ranked opponents, if you take a high rank mission and are a low rank you get high ranked opponents because the mission will do that, but if you're a high ranked player and take a low ranked mission you'd still get high ranked opponents because your combat rank would override the usually low ranked mission NPCs.

Edit: As for your question regarding the benefit of Elite rank, it's literally just an ego buff since they decoupled missions from the rank lock.

I mine all the time. I always get interdicted with my cargo. Last night pirate jumped out of hyperspace while i was in auto-dock mode. Security was on him instantly.

Ahh yes the "You can't get away now" as you enter the slot :D

You seem to be doing everything right, mining, making profit from it. It's odd your trade rank isn't shifting upwards.

My trade rank went up last night. I ranked up in Fed to LT.Commander. Trade rank went up from 71% to 72%.
