Can't log in with second account.

I have two Elite Dangerous accounts through separate Steam accounts, with separate Frontier accounts and email addresses. When I try to boot up Elite Dangerous with the second account, I get given the message "Please purchase/redeem Elite Dangerous to continue."

My Frontier account page confirms that it is paired with Steam (and even warns me that unpairing may lead to my cmdr being inaccessible!).

My Steam account gives me the following details for Elite Dangerous:

26 Aug, 2019Elite Dangerous: Commander Deluxe Edition (non-key)Steam Store

I am posting this here as I tried submitting this as a ticket to Frontier Support, and get no notification of it being submitted nor any indication of it under "My Tickets". Though this problem appears in an Elite Dangerous FAQ, the link to the answer no longer functions, and just returns me to the Support main page.

Thanks in advance!

@Several Puffins, try this:

Since the version was bought after April 2019, you have to log in via your Steam account - Hence this "log out machine" and then log in as per step 2 in the link:

Step 2. Log back in
If you purchased the game content you are trying to access via Steam after 25th April 2019, select Steam Log In (red arrow shown below).

Good luck

If you didn't get an acknowledgement email and can't see you ticket then it didn't get created - prolly a captcha issue - unless you submitted it as a bug report as those are not "tickets".

This resolves the issue, thank you. Will there be a less faffy means for two people in a household to have Elite accounts in the future?

- As regards the Captcha issue- yes, this is plausible. As I hit the "not a bot" button and saw no other captcha information, how would I resolve this in the future? It was submitted as a ticket.

Glad you got sorted.

I have several accounts including one Steam account that I can run direct (it is from before April) from a single installation - I also have a Steam account bought since April that requires me to be logged-in to Steam and needs the game installed in a Steam library (can't run it direct) - I assume that separate Steam accounts just need to run via that Steam login - means you have to log in and out of Steam accounts - but I am just a player, not staff, so I am only guessing.

I don't know what the issue might have been - maybe a script blocker or similar - I know that some ad-blockers give F D sites the wobblies.

I'm having a similar issue. I just bought the game for the first time, and I have tried all of the steps listed above. Including putting in a support ticket with the same issues as Several Puffins.

However, I do not have the logout or Steam login option in launcher. Anyone have any idea how to fix this? Thanks <3

Have you looked at this FAQ? :

If that doesn't work can you post a screenshot of what you actually are seeing?

Yeah. I have tried that. I've spent a solid 4 hours searching for solutions.

The popup to link account when I open the launcher has never come up either. I'm currently just trying uninstalling and reinstalling again. I've also noticed that most of these screenshots say steam in the bottom right. I'm wondering if there is a separate launcher for Steam, maybe? And, it isn't downloading, or I'm not getting it somehow. Idk. I'm grasping at straws.

Here is my screenshots, and I really appreciate any help.

Yes that is the issue with this new (post April) Steam thing - took me an age to sort it. It really is the "Link your Frontier account .... " FAQ issue. When you select Elite Dangerous to run from your Steam library you should get the E D Launcher with the three buttons - the Link Account one is missing from your screenshot.

You could try a circuitous method of going to your Frontier account "User Portal", log-in there and see if you can do the "Approve Access" thing there, I don't know if it is possible though:

I tried it with no luck, but I finally got a support ticket to go through. I guess that I'll just be waiting up to 5 days to try to play this again. haha. Thank you for the help.

I have the exact same problem and have tried all of the same steps as you did. I too submitted a ticket a few days ago, but have not had an answer yet. It's hard to believe how complicated this login hairball is. Never have experienced such confusion in any game or software login procedure.

And Frontier's steps 'LINK YOUR FRONTIER ACCOUNT TO YOUR STEAM ACCOUNT' outline is pure hogwash: it tells you to "click on 'Link Account' "
button/option -which isn't available to click in the first place(!).

I'm at a loss as to what to do or try next.

Only thing I can think is to confirm that you did actually raise the ticket (got an email confirmation, ticket appears in your My Tickets area). Some get caught out waiting for tickets they never managed to raise ...

Funny thing about the ticket I 'submitted'; now that I think about it, I never did receive an email confirm. Will try and submit again.

Thanks for mentioning that; much appreciated!
