We Ever Going To Get New Ships?

It’s been a year. No new ships. No new content. Paint jobs have been not good (seriously? snake paint jobs?).

We need new material fdev.
New ships would be nice...but I’d prefer devs to be working on actual content than more ships and paint jobs. If work on one comes at the expense of the other, the former for me please.

I'm with the 'more ships gang' - not that I think there is anything terribly wrong with the ones we have - simply because I like poodling around in different ships and 'doing things', enjoying different handling/speed/capacity/loadouts just for the fun of it!

I would also love 'one-off' engineering unlocks, but that is only because I like poodling around in spaceships...

There will be new ships due to cosmetics sales hinging on them.

I bet they sold a tonne of Krait skins.

The tricky bit is how you introduce them. For example they should have some advantage to encourage people to want to own them (ie Krait), but people will get mad if such a ship is in paid DLC.

Personally, I'd rather have more content for the ships we have, than more ships for the content we don't have.

Mechwarrior Online kept adding new mechs, constantly, but didn't bother making new maps. There's only some many times you can stomp around the same terrain.

Yet in this game, there's so much terrain you can't even stomp around... How many landable planets in each system on average as a ratio 1:12? Not even counting the systems that have no landable planets at all? Trillions of planets, and maybe a couple hundred you can actually do anything with besides scan them?

More ships is nice, but more places to go with them and do things to do with them is even nicer.

If they've "run out of ideas"... I'm sure the community can provide fresh ones.

I've been spamming content ideas for over 4 years now. They can't be short on ideas anymore. Lol

I found many landable bodies on my last trip, but I think skewed the ratio by selection of star type (when near Galactic Centre one can be very picky), but only bothered investigating the few with Bio signs. Found a cluster of Crystalline Shards bearing bodies way too far from anywhere (except Beagle Point) to be useful too!

Being boring I suppose but there is still much I can do with that we have in game (as I could do with some of the ships I really don't like much, I suppose) to not have enough content, but more ot that too would be most welcome!

I've yet to 'discover' many of the Bio space/planetary forms in the Codex and look forward to finding them in similar systems rather than actual Codex entries :)

The Ether Drake from Stellaris more what you were thinking of?

I'm inclinded to agree. Let's bring a bit of fear back with something unkillable. That was my first experience of a Thargoid in the original Elite anyway.

Except we still don't have a medium sized Gutamaya or Saud Kruger

I've never understood how/why they continue to ignore that

We don't, but if we did get one I very much doubt its capabilities would be any different from one or more of the 15 medium ships we already have in the game. I'm all for a bit of medium sized basking but on my list of priorities it would come in somewhere around #1129.

A medium Saud Kruger would be able to carry luxury cabins, no other mediun can do that.

Oh yeah luxury cabins. I'd forgotten they even existed and I'm saying that as someone who's run loads of passenger missions in a Python built for the job, has first and business class cabins in my do-everything mission running Corvette and also rocks a fully engineered Orca 😁
